I've no idea where you're striking trouble there, but I have none...

Great pages and interesting pics, thanks for those.

Same problem Imageshack uploader takes multiple files but won't resize multiple files ( I even resized them one by one to no avail)

Anyway, these are at the NSW Hillclimb Championships, King Edward Park, Newcastle, 1956. Caption says 18.8.56, but is that right? De Bord in the Cooper with a 500 was only 2/10ths behind Bruce Walton's FTD in the Walton Special with 8-80 JAP.

De Bord must have been pretty good.

Later that year Bruce bought the car.

From what I can see, you're still not taking any notice of which option you click on to copy and paste.

'hotlink for forums (1)' used to be the go, it will still be something like that. As you can see, you selected thumbnails above, that's what the 'th' is all about.

From my point of view it is always preferable to resize your photos before uploading them. Irfanview makes it really simple and quick to do that.

The Mattara Hillclimb is always held in conjunction with the Mattara Festival, as far as I know. Maybe Trove will confirm the date? The Newcastle Herald is bound to have reported on something about it.

I believe the MG Special is Harry Gapps in the ex. Brabham short wheel base MG TC Special of 1250 cc s/c, the car was entered in the Bathurst 1956 Easter meeting running # 24 as per the Bathurst book.

What is the History of the Harry Gapps TC & where did Brabham become connected with this car as I can find no mention of Brabham having a TC.

Steve deBord 56.76

It's to stop them falling into the sea I think. Not sure what stops the cars - never had time to look.

I too found the mention of Brabham's name in connection with an MG as being odd, but I note that at Paramatta Park, 14 June 1954, Brabham was entered with an MG in the under 1500cc racing car events and with the Cooper Bristol in the over 1500cc racing car events.

Shortchassis(Tony Ohlmeyer) South Australian car built 1950 for David Harvey who raced and sold it (perhaps)to Jack Brabham who raced it sold to Harry Gapps thence Victorian Jack O'Dea, now and for a long time with Victorian John Gillett

Thanks for the History on this car John, amazing it is still racing 60 odd years after being built.

It seems an unlikely car for Brabham to have had at that time so I think Brabham must have "traded" it in on his Mk IV Cooper which O'Dea ended up with at about the same time as Brabham had the MG. His MG racing career seems to have been brief, practice and a few laps in a race before it melted a piston, he must have forgotten to put the good fuel in it !

Believe it or not I actually recall remarking on the worried look on that MG driver's face when I saw an initially unrecognized Jack Brabham at the wheel at Mt Druitt

I think you may be spot on again, Dick(PS interested in bad pics of Nind MG? Deadline for that other matter I owe you?)

Did Brabham drive it at Mt. Druitt, I thought Parramatta Park was a once only.

I am always interested in any pics of the Nind MG, and re, the other matter, ASAP.

Thanks Kev, a good pic of it, disinguishable as the ex Nind car by the tapered vent on the side of the engine cover laying on the ground.

A little off-topic perhaps, but who can aswer the following: when exactly was the last race at Gnoo Blas ? The last I can find was October 3 1960, but all sources seem to point to October 1961 (unfortunately without ever mentioning the exact date).
