Hello everybody,

I hope somebody can help me. I´m looking for Tomas Mezera´s contact. The best form would be e-mail. I´m a journalits from Czech republic and I would like to make an interview with him, because he was born in Czech rep. (well, Czechoslovakia) and emigrated in 80´s. He spend a few years in Europe and then moved to Australia, where he had pretty succesfull career in V8 supercars.

I would appreciate any help.

I think Tomas Mezera runs the Porsche Sport Driving School Australia in Queensland or at least he ran it in the past.

When he was racing in Europe he was described as a Czech-born Australian, so he must have first gone to Australia before his European career

I seem to remember there was an interview with him concerning his background in either Motoring News or Autosport around about 1986-7 when he was racing in UK F Ford

In fact, if I recall correctly, he moved to Australia principally to advance his motor racing career.

Evidently Tomas has left V8 Supercars to concentrate on his Golfing career. And he has been a ski instuctor too. A very versatile bloke!

This is why, I guess, Frank Gardner got him to drive with Tony Longhurst. Their Bathurst win was a big breakthrough for Tomas.

If you look at the list of co-drivers Frank Gardner lined up with his regular drivers you'll find a lot of openwheeler men. Alf Costanzo, Denny Hulme, John Leffler, John Smith, David Hobbs.

Thomas gained his P licence on the same day I did at Amaroo Park 77 or 78 cant remember , he was in his Carlboro FF piece of sh1'', I remember talking to him as he was newly arrived here and had worked as a ski instructor , not sure about when he drove FF in Europe though?

It was his reward for winning the Australian title, was it not?

The 1986 Race of Champions (I think there had been one in 1985 as well) was ostensibly for the FF champions from all around the world, so I guess the answer is "yes"
