Again, it depends on how you define "mastery". Some were saying last year that Seb "mastered" his Red Bull. It all comes down to your own criteria in how you evaluate a driver.

Alonso is a driver I would define as a "master", but he is not the driver that the thread is meant to be debating

Oops, sorry about that.

It is the 2014 tyres (as some people who follow closly might have expected):

Vettel gets credit for looking good when he's had the best car. I do not give him full credit as Mark was very close to him at times. Whether he impresses me enough in a good but not great car to consider him a great driver remains to be seen. I had my doubts before the season and they have gotten even stronger this season. I do not not like him and have enjoyed watching Daniel make him his b&#%h.

I think anyone can see that Vettel's tyre life has been significantly worse. But thats the drivers job to maintain them.

Agree with joshb. SV was the best during the EBD years.

Tempting isn't it... :D Some people have waited a real long time, and boy oh boy, some the lot here are rubbing their hands with glee. Well, don't stop on my account... how dare the car not work for him, nevermind more failures/ issues on his cars, and the fact that he was running out of parts 2-3 races ago. Here, look at it, what beautiful dead horse.

I don't know why.  What is strange about believing the reigning champion, youngest 4 X WDC, most decorated driver on the grid, with more achievements than any other driver at his age - is a great driver with all of the mastery Horner speaks of?

If he is so good why does he have zero wins to his team-mates three, and his team-mate keeps overtaking him on the racetrack whenever Vettel is ahead.

Webber was masterful occasionally too... doesn't matter anymore.  :)

Same, same, doesn't matter anymore!

I still dislike Vettel after he started to cry on the radio in Brazil 2009 that he wanted to win the title when he was forced to retire or something.

He cried like a spoiled brat who didn't get what he wanted for everyone to hear.

IIRC he wasn't forced to retire, he simply finished 4th while to stay in title contention he needed to win, which ironically Webber did.
