During qualifying today I thought McLaren had forgotten to put the red strips on Button's T-Bar. Looking at photos now, it seems all teams are using Black/Yellow T-Bars rather than the Red/Yellow of previous years.
This year more than ever the colour of the T-Bar will be used to identify drivers with Hamilton and Rosberg both using yellow helmets. It is also more reliable than helmet design when drivers like Vettel change helmets every so often.
I think it was during/after the 2006 season that there was some protocol put in place whereby the leading/lower numbered driver used a red T-bar with the other being yellow. Anyone else notice the change or know why? Personally, I think red was more distinguishable than black.

It was a stupid decision. Numbers are non existant & too many drivers change their helmets every weekend
Now the noticeable red camera is replaced by a black which blends in with many cars and the road
I feel sorry for Merc fans with both having yellow helmets .... But I gues a Merc fan is used to being frustrated

Yellow still stands out so things aren't too bad. Did prefer red though.
