on lap 27 Alonso was behind Rosberg just before he stopped - i am sure (watched it twice) i saw Alonso's rear flap open before the DRS was enabled (on TV). Vettel was behind alonso at that time and had his closed even though he was close enough to enable it. During this period the DRS was disabled because of Maldonado went off the track.

is the DRS controlled by race control or is it driver controlled at all times?

Detectionpoin for DRS is before final 2 corners I think, so perhaps that made him use it after pitlane?
Not sure if allowed.

Wasn't there a telemetry issue this weekend which prevented the FIA from controlling DRS?

DRS is supposed to be controlled by the ECU, but weren't this race, due to bugs in the new version...

Yeah I noticed that, but I think he had it open down the second zone (?) and then within seconds the DRS enabled appeared on screen.

So who knows.

If this was Vettel you would've had 300 posts in this thread with Ferrari and Fernando crying for steward inquiries with a million grainy youtube videos from users who's emails end in .es and .it

I think it should be investigated if true. God help if it was Red Bull who was suspected of this... :)

Does that mean that you think that if Ferrari is suspected of wrongdoing, everyone just lets it go?

I would be dissapointed if there was a penalty for this. It didn´t change anything in the race. Alonso got no advantage out of it and FIA must be extra lenient as their system failed first of all. It´s like when in China there was a system failure and Alonso opened briefly his DRS exiting the hairpin out the the DRS zone: no effect on the race, and a result of a previous failure of something that should be working and isn´t.

Nothing will happen, and that´s how it should be.

And it's not different for Ferrari or any other established team.

He had it open in the second zone - that was past the yellow flag zone.

Alonso's DRS failed during qualyfying. Don't see any threads bitching about it.

No.

I just mean that if it was Red Bull we would probably already have a brawl here. But I believe it will get sorted no matter who it is.

How´s that any relevant? Isn´t that a Ferrari problem? Why should anyone bitch about that?

This topic is a non issue but what you wrote makes zero sense.

Vettel was penalised for opening his DRS last year in Spain.

Not quite the same:

in Barcelona this year both Sebastian Vettel and Felipe Massa received penalties after they drove through a yellow zone with their DRS open and without backing off.

Adam Cooper.

I saw that also. Noone around him had DRS opened. I guess it is due to error in ECU. Otherwise they would give him a penalty for sure.

He had it open in the second zone - that was past the yellow flag zone.

It wasn't a yellow zone, but the DRS at the time was disabled.

Error in the ECU or no, the teams were told that DRS was deactivated, and were told to inform their drivers this (due to the ECU probs, they couldn't auto-deactivate it)

He didn't use it in the first zone heading the yellow flag zone.

He then did use it for the second zone once passed the yellows, with the enabled message appearing a few seconds later. With all the carry on it seems a reasonable action to me.

Yes, Vettel didnt opened because he was 1.2 at DRS check. Sutil has DRS opened too like Fernando because he was 0.8 from Vettel.

Probably the teams get the DRS ok before it's shown on TV.

Both Fernando and Sutil had their DRS opened in the second zone.

Why is it that it's almost always Alonso who has these weird DRS glitches?
