See I think quite the opposite, I find him very whiney and manipulative, especially of the media.

All driver is whining at some point, and some of them has reasons to do so too.
But being manipulative is as far from Webber as it can come imo...that´s more
Vettel/Horner style and in the past Shumi and some others. ;)

well Mateschitz apparently sent Webbers father a short message to state that he gives Mark his support right away at Malaysia without talking to anyone else before ... Webber stating he will "talk directly to Dietrich..." added to that impression...

Sin. Ask yourself this question: Why does Mark will only deal with Mateschitz and not with Horner or Marko? Why has he negotiated his last 3 contracts directly with DM & not the team? There you'll find the answer as to who gets the most support & protection from the team's management. It's both obvious & understandable that that person is Seb. Seb is their #1 & Mark was naïve to think it would be any other way. He's been silly to keep signing on because of his loyalty to DM imho.

Did he? Didn't he complain about only being able to negotiate one-year-extensions because that's what Marko wants?

Having a close relationship with Mark doesn't mean DM "prefers" one of his drivers over the other.

I don't understand anyone who thinks of "fair and square" in terms of Mark. He defies team orders and brags about it the media post race - in response Seb just says "that's racing." Seb defies team orders and Mark has the paddock's biggest temper tantrum. Seb didn't play the victim for a month afterward, threaten to leave, promote rumors about new contracts, and post pictures of himself hanging out with Felipe Massa. Mark went from playing the victim to actively antagonizing his team's interests now. What is fair about any of that?? Or constantly implying your team is out to get you and then continually re signing contracts? Makes him come off as anything but genuine, to this fan.

1. DM give fair chances for bot drivers, meaning that we expect for DM two drivers are equal.
2. Webber say much, speaks loud, but in fact he does confirm the team. Tho, exception when he say before the race that he will race for himself like in Brazil, he does just what he said.
3. Seb got his easy going face, till China press conference. Now we seemin in a different light. How will it be? We shall see.

Dr. Helmut Marko
I assume most question is beamed at the function of Dr. Helmut Marko. So it is quite important to keep it in my mind, IMHO, that Seb is silly to become a puppet of Marko.

Selling the team out in one sound byte or in one action and then "confirming" the team in another doesn't say fair and square or genuine to me. To me it says "I want to let everyone know I'm the victim here, and annoy the team a little bit, but not enough to get me in big trouble". Which coincidentally is exactly how Mark races lol He does just enough to let everyone know he is there but never enough to win a title. Race as you live, live as you race.

IC.

Looking back 2010, the year was great. Why Webber is not at that, that is the question posed in this thread, IMHO.

My reading is, Webber, given equal equipment, can beat Seb constantly. Webber is yet unlucky to get mal-functioning KERS and accidents thathinder his true pace. Why?
What you mention might be referring to in 2011, 2012 season.

You seem to refer to 2010 as Webber beating Seb constantly, and then go on how he's been unlucky since.
Isnt't that a bit of a double standard, considering Vettel had worse luck of anyone, by a margin, in 2010?

If you get the maximum result possible on weekends where you DON'T have bad luck, and a little misfortunate won't kill your title campaign. Making mistakes that ultimately cost you positions and thus points WILL ruin your chances.

Mentally he is one of the toughest drivers in the paddock and his straight-talking approach to F1 has won him a legion of fans. I think "fair and square" is the most equivalent expression of Webber.

He actually isn't that unlucky, it just seems that way because he never makes the most of it when things do go his way, like other drivers do.
