That dubious site doesn't explain why Massa managed to get within 1 point of the WDC if Ferrari would "never" let Massa be WDC.

But then there's more conspiracy theorists here than at a 9/11 "Truthers" convention, and less coherent...

I used your post to make example, it was not personal.
Anyway to beat Fernando should not be his objetive. What Massa needs, after 68 races without a win (record at Ferrari) is a solid race and being the first crossing the chequered flag imho. There is no bigger boost to his confidence than that.

Solid race is not enough. If fred boy is behind they'll swap them.
Felipe had some poor times and he seems to be back. However that record of 68 races was helped by Fernando is faster than you

Looks like Felipe Massa is truly back. 2-0 and whats the count in the last 4 or 5 races? Way to go Felipe. About time you showed us what an awake and lively Felipe can do.

you can't be serious... every driver is there giving best, trying to win. if you are not there trying to win, you can as well quit. Beating your team mate is the first objective, only by that you can assure you are fastest of all.

Great Job from the boys and especially from Felipe! 1 tenth between them so it will be an interesting race tomorrow. Hopefully they can jump Vettel at the start

Alonso not doing the job for what he's paid for. If this form continues like this, you can surely expect Kimi scenario in Ferrari. Congrats to Massa for finding his mojo back. Wonder what people think now about him? Is he the same driver as before accident?

I think Brundle said this is the 4th race in a row that Felipe won in qualy.

Looking really good for the WCC title, since both drivers are performing in good form. You can't say the same for
Red Bull or Lotus, for example.

Just stop with this rubbish. F1 is all about the tyres. Massa is on top of the tyres.

This is Massa's first front row since Bahrain 2010, you know, the first race back after his accident?

Ferrari has a long night ahead of them with some tough decisions to be made: break the seal on the gearbox? Perhaps some sugar in the tank? Or just boldly slash his tyres on the grid? Decisions, decisions...

Fernando: No no, I "purposely" chose to qualify 3rd, to be on the clean side on the grid.
[Oh wait, thunderstoms = no clean side]
Fernando: Doh!

Already the Vettel trolls have invaded this thread, earlier than I expected even.

You didn't hear Alonso fans prancing around in their panties on the Vettel thread when Webber outqualified him 3-0 in the first three races of 2012.

No points are given on Saturday. Alonso is a great racer – better than Massa – and he will finish ahead of Massa tomorrow.

ferrari are not idiots. If massa is fast 3 races over the season, nowhere in 10 and mediocre in 5 of course he won't get support.
if he shows this form lasts the team will support him.

they just want to win and, like it or not, it's been obvious in the last years only alonso was a bet.

now it's up to massa to prove he's worth it. keep the head low and deliver, don't moan and just drive fast. do the job you're paid for
alonso will feel the pressure if this continues

I am not sure that it is the Vettel trolls, but it is certainly a group of trolls.

Great qualy for Ferrari, and great show by Massa. Now let's hope that the red cars manage to overtake Vettel on the start, and we do have an Alonso vs Massa show all the way to the checkered flag.

Indeed, and a good one.

Same thing happened in Melbourne and Felipe undercuts Fernando just by a few hundredths.

Good for him and Ferrari though!

Massa the faster one in both dry and wet qualifying

That surprised me too.

But former Massa pré 2009,was a very very strong driver on Malaysia.

Haters enjoying that at here :)
who save ferrari these three last year ? The best
That arrives to have a bad time sometimes...

Somes jokes here, in two small races, everybody spit at alonso .....perhaps the car is more adapted for massa who knows?

Alonso begins in the good side of the track, P1 in the first lap
It is the race which counts

Great qualifying performance by Felipe, but Fred would be my bet for the race. AMuS has a recent quote by Massa saying that his driving style strains the rear tires more than Fernando's. Excited for tommorow's race.

Out-qualifying your teammate by a tenth and a half is a nice first step from Massas perspective, but nothing more. IF he starts beating Alonso in race pace and race intelligence, then no doubt Ferrari will give him preferential treatment. Personally I can't see it happening, but if so, fair game.

BTW, I'd like to talk to those numerous people declaring Massa finished and brain damaged from his Hungary accident.... :drunk:

Felipe got a better strategy than Fernando, but I guess that is forgotten....

He did a great job, and real Ferrari and Alonso fans should be loving this new level of competition. Haters are just angry that both horses are on form and their heidi thing might be eaten up and spat out by BOTH cars again.

Let's not bite guys, and enjoy this, like I id back in the early part of 2008 in the great days.

P.S. the folk that wanted massa to be replaced and called him, i quote 'a turd' while Ferrari kept their faith in him, now care about him and 'sympathise with him as Ferrari aren't giving him a chance' and saying 'great job, fastest ferrari' etc.? spare me.

That's the thing, he's not. Alonso is not slower. You're just blatantly ignoring the conditions, this is what is annoying.

I can't see Massa doing that simply because I think overall Alonso is the better driver.
his chance is to perform and put pressure on Fred...Alonso hates a fast team mate and he MAY crack. He may not, but that's Felipe's only chance

2 in a row, end of 2012 season was 6 months ago mate.

And Massa had a double advantage:

- in Melbourne Alonso's DRS didn't open and Massa finished his lap after him
- here, Massa had a better strategy and again finished his last lap much later

So, its just bad luck for Alonso, that he lost his 4th duel in row against Massa?

Stop it already with 4 in a row. Not the same car, not the same rules, not the same time of the year, not the same standings in the championship.

Yes, Fernando has had bad luck and bad strategies in 2013 until now, yet only finishes on tenth adrift of Massa.

Massa should actually have been higher up in those conditions, but he didn't. The real performance is on Alonso.
