I am looking for photos of a tangerine Porsche 911T that was raced by Peter Sargeantson at the following 1968 season meetings:

21st July 1968 Harewood Hill Climb - No. 59 in Class 6

28th July 1968 Mallory Park - No. 39 in Race 2, Special Sports Cars

3rd August 1968 Crystal Palace - No. 141 in Race 7, Scratch Race for Special Sports Cars *****

4th August 1968 Thruxton - No. 4 in Race 1, Special Sports Car Race 'A'

11th August 1968 Mallory Park - No. 83 in Race 4, Special Sports Car Race

18th August 1968 Brands Hatch - No. 11 in Race 1, Amasco Special Sports Car Race 'A'

25th August 1968 Elvington – “One Mile Sprint” - No. 49 in Class 5/6

(**** I have some black & white scans of photos taken by "BRSCC Official Photographer" Evan Selwyn-Smith from Orpington if anyone knows of his work)

In most of the above races Peter was competing in the only Porsche 911, the rest of the fields were usually made up of E Types, MG's and Triumphs; if anyone has any photos from these meetings that capture Peter at work I would be delighted to hear from them.

Thanks
Tim

I have sent an email to Ted Walker but with no joy, could anyone confirm the correct email address for Ted please?
Many thanks.

The Harewood hillclimb and the Elvington sprint meetings would probably have been covered by Frank Hall. Frank is no longer with us but I understand his huge back catalogue is. So just try a Google search.

Thanks Steve
I have tried Google as you suggested, all I can find are links to images on the Harewood site itself; do you know if Frank's archive sits somewhere else under another title?

The long-necked one can probably help here:

Well now I can tell you a little more. Whilst working on my project, I managed to track down Chris Winstanley who was bequeathed Frank Hall's archives upon his death.
Having been in contact with Chris on a fairly regular basis for nigh on two years now, he tells me has finally managed to catalogue what he has by date, location & event.
He is now in a position to supply specific images by request, but needs an event date, location and generally a competition number to do that. He can however provide contact sheets for specific meetings that Frank attended for the location of images.

If anyone has any requests that they would like to send to Chris, please contact me by e-mail (giraffe138@hotmail.com) or by PM & I will put him in touch with you.

I'm hoping of getting Chris posting on the forum in the very near future! :cat:

See the other Tim's response above. I am sure a PM to Giraffe will get the result you desire!

Based on my own experience, I can vouch for Chris Winstanley's help. He is the arch-enthusiast and very helpful. He sends a list of all/any events for the events which you cite to him, for which he has film rolls, then proofs of the shots from the events which you give him, which takes a certain amount of time, then will send a hi res version of any specific pictures. The only proviso I would make is that you need to bear with him at times, as he helps a number of people at any time, and also has a full time job as a photographer, where he aims to maike a living. Highly recommended, and a nice chap to talk through your needs with, too.

Caveat. It is very easy to drool over some of the shots of other cars on the proof sheets. Frank Hall was a very good photographer.

Gentlemen

Many thanks for your help, I have sent an email to "giraffe" as suggested so hopefully he will provide the introduction to Chris.

My research into this particular car has put me in touch with the widow of the first owner Peter Sargeantson. From what I have discovered to date Peter was a larger than life character who competed in these 1968 UK events having just collected the brand new car from the Stuttgart factory! He then took the Porsche out to Kenya where he lived and competed there at the Embakasi and Nakuru circuits. I have discovered that he also had an ex Phil Scragg Alta Jaguar as well as a couple of MGA's that he collected in person from the Competition Dept at Abingdon having arranged with Marcus Chambers for them to be "breathed on". I will hopefully have a few photos of these cars to share shortly together with some of my fathers old Oulton Park '50's/'60's photos once I have had them scanned.

Regards
Tim
