Does anyone have an image of Niki Lauda's very brief appearance in the IROC series of 1979? Records indicate he completed one lap of the "road racers" round held at Riverside before being sidelined by clutch failure, his Chevrolet Camaro Z8 carrying number 8. I'm really trying to establish what colour his car was (each was different in every race) and the series rules stated that in the first instance cars would be liveried in the colour nearest to that of their native country. Can anyone help please?

I never saw a picture of Lauda racing in a IROC car, must be very interesting.. Some time ago I was searching for pictures of James Hunt when he competed in the 1976 IROC race at Michigan, but I found nothing..

I know I have a photo of Lauda in the pits in the IROC Camaro at Riverside. Finding it may be a bit of a problem. I'm not sure if I have one of him on track.

On track, in pits, anything identifying the colour would be good! I have seen a web pic (copyright unknown) of Lauda and a couple of other contenders gathered in the pitlane, but it's black & white and not even next to his car. I'll see if I can find it again....

I found two pics of Lauda at Riverside one colour with no car and one black and white with a #4 that looks like it is probably Peter Greggs.

Looking at the results of the race published here looks like Alan Jones was carrying the #8 and Lauda's number is unknown.

You're correct that Jones was indeed carrying number 8, so that's a further question as to what number Lauda's Camaro was wearing. I do know he qualified 4th, but that's not much help!
