And this is the bottom line. Vettel isn't going to be critized by his team bosses because he is a winner, and he will do what needs to be done to get that win.

Yep, the rules are different when you are special.

Vettel really is a an arrogant fool. I would love it if the Red Bulls lockout the front row this weekend.

Sometimes it is easy to mistake determination for arrogance.

And then what. You think Webber is gonna pay back Vettel? By some Senna style crash out? Boy you got it all wrong. Webber is gonna play so nice from now or his ass will be out of Red Bull faster than you can blink. While the press and some of the Vettel critics put it all on Vettel, im sure within the factory Webber has had some tough talks as well. It takes two to tango, you know. Vettel got upset for a reason. Nuance my friend. Look it up.

... thats true... I'm not sure any other team is intrested in Webber, while at the same time another team still seems to be intrested in Seb... so if no other team wants Webber he has no other choice than to behave... unless he decided to quit already... I'm sure Kobayashi would be great as Vettels teammate, he has been Vettels teammate before after all (even tho not in F1)

So that story Webber put around about staying in Australia between Malaysia and China is BS - he was actually in Milton Keynes having electrickery passed through his gonads. The filthy liar!
It's lucky you're here to point out the truth.

Good point! :) But Horner did say BOTH drivers have done it so my guess is hes had some talks with Webber either over the phone or here in China. If they want to continue together, without the pay back, both drivers should give a little love. If not, tragic as it may be for Webber, I doubt hell continue with Red Bull for much longer.

Yes, but you're just pulling all of this out of thin air, aren't you?
There's nothing I've seen that suggests that Webber's position this season is at risk.

There is a Kimi and there is a Da Costa moving up quite good at the moment.

Da Costa who? (I know he is good but who is he, really I don't even know and care for his nationality)

VET is awesome, he provokes reactions from other drivers, commentators and journalists, former f1 pilots and forumers that are priceless.
I am not a fan of him, but he is a good guy who is just programmed to win (when he was in school (with 11 or like this) he was surprised why his schoolmates didn't cheer when he brought his trophies to the classroom and called him show-off LOL ), he is down to earth, still goes to his shitty old karting circuits for some "inofficial" racing and picture taking etc.)

so hahahaha he is just a winner Kid, so what.

Well yes, its all just speculation you are right about that. But if I was Horner, I would not want this thing to escalate further and would talk with both sides for some sense. Hence my guess that Webber has had some tough talks too, not about Malaysia, but about restoring the trust between him and Vettel. Saying sorry for that **** in Brasil would go a long way imo.

can't blame him for the school stuff in that age I painted a picture that got rank 2 in a german wide competition, won even a journey and money and everything... and I also won a medal... I took it with me in school and showed it around... they were not being really nice to me either... and in the end the medal got stolen..... so I can totally relate with seb there

If you were Horner Mark would probably be worrying about his kers, his clutch settings and his fuel loads. :D

I actually think Webber is the perfect Red Bull driver: very fast, good qualifier and wheel to wheel on par with Kimi, Alonso. He's also very good bringing home results. The only difference with vettel is hes not as consistent. And I never thought the Brasil thing would cause Vettel to do the thing he did at Malaysia. That is on Horner too imo. He shouldv convinced Webber to play the teammate that race, wich he didnt. But the way Webber blew up that Malaysia thing post race, the swerving, the tears in his eyes...i never expected that double faced attitude from him. Im sure Vettel is no saint either, but he has a point when he says Webber has been anything but a help in the past. If he doesnt change that im pretty sure hes out of Red Bull at the end of the year, if not sooner. And yes, thats speculation too :)

Looks like Seb is setting the new standard for arrogance with his latest comments, now that Kimi's on the table I think Seb should wise-up because there's clearly a replacement available, I'd bet the option of putting Kimi in Seb's seat is a real... personally I don't see a downside to it for RB.

I think you hit on the issue here.

This is an internal team matter - there are no rules! If the team is ok then everything is fine. If they see Vettel as special then that is their prerogative to do so. From what I have read it seems that the team is supporting Vettel and it is Webber whose career with the team that is open for discussion.

Red Bull isn't going to kill the goose that lays golden eggs, that would be foolish.

Whether Webber will be with RBR comes 2014 is still a big question, but Vettel will be around unless Ferrari decide they want to buy out his contract from RBR for 2014.

Christian Horner has to do something to respond to Seb's insubordination. Banning him for an entire race damages his WDC chances as well as their WCC total. But putting Buemi in the car for both Friday session would certainly send a (very public) message that it's not okay to disregard the pit wall. It would be put Seb a bit on the back foot for the weekend, but not so much that he wouldn't be able to recover. Giving Buemi some seat time wouldn't be the worst thing either in case he's needed to race in the future.

Thoughts?

Well, I guess we saw Red Bull's response today!

I think this comment should be quoted again for pure amusement as it sets a new standard for stupidty. I mean the talk from Didi and Mark is so obviously all about who will take the seat alongside Seb that such posts just crack me up.

RBR would have been stupid to do anything like the thread starter asked. Once again we have seen the teams and drivers trying to get everything out of the FP to get the tyres operating right.

Webber's been on 1 year contracts since forever - that suits him and suits the team.
A side-effect of those is that every year we get the 'Webber will be out next season' posts. And one year - maybe this, maybe not - they'll be right.
It's fairly clear that whether he drives for RBR next year will be decided by him and DM - as usual.
