Looks like she'll be inheriting the team then. This must be a plan C (excuse the pun) for Frank. Parr, and Wolff were obviously choices 1 and 2.

Good luck to her.

(And yes, I realise it should be Principal, not principle... Stupid generic 'smart phone')

What about her brother Jonathan? He worked with iSport, but the team now left GP2. What is Williams doing now? I heard he worked also for F3 teams`?

Great news! Apart from the fact that she looks SO like her late mother, could there be a clearer statement that "F1 is the Williams family business - and we're in it to stay"? It's what makes Williams so different to some of the get-rich-quick parvenus that have come in and out of F1.

Claire seems an intelligent, competent person.....interesting to compare her with Tamara and Petra Bigbucks.......

I've always felt that Williams would stay under Sir Frank's control until he's in a hole in the ground. I think I should extend that thought to his entire family. It is the family business, and I'd hate to see it fall away to someone else.

I had been hoping for news of this since last year, as I didn't like the idea of Williams being run by anyone with the last name of Parr or Wolf. It just didn't sit well with me.

Claire seems like a great choice. Aside from the fact that she is Frank's daughter and her name is the team name as well, she just seems exceptionally devoted. She's been with the team for, what, eleven years? Kudos to her for this well deserved promotion.

Hopefully this means that Williams will still be Williams after (and if) Sir Frank retires. I think this is the first good news for Williams for too long now.

 Yep. Pleased to see it. A chip off the old block too, hopefully. And more female management in the pitlane is nice to see.

It was about 15 years ago, and she was fairly young at the time, but I knew Claire Williams for a little while. She actually came to my wedding. Very nice person - good luck to her.

Good luck to Claire. There will some who will be looking to her to fail. I am delighted that she will be there to carry on the family name.

This news probably explains why Toto shipped out.

She's very pretty too, in a kind of girl next door way.

I know that's irrelevant to her ability to do the job, it's just an observation and not irrelevant to this discussion.

Plus it's probably good for F1 to have more women as team leaders. Monisha has proven herself for many years as Sauber's right hand woman.
