Can anybody tell me the correct colour for the Armstrong Dampers on a Lotus 21 I'm restoring? When the car came to me they were black, as I think most were or are, although I know on the later Lotus F1 cars, 25 and 33 they were a bronze or gold colour. It's a Team Lotus car, built mid '61. Thanks.

There aren't many colour photos around, and those that are tend to be side-on

I have some 1966 Armstrongs used in a 1963 Lotus that I am reasonably sure have never been touched. They are black.

IIRC it was Konis that were gold, at least, mine were!
