Rossi, No question.
Just wait and see, His first race back provides a clear view of the man's talent.

Of course it's impossible to compare drivers from different eras, but I have to say that if you're looking to ask who is the best of all time, Rossi is one of the easier ones to eliminate - sure he dominated the early 00s, but since the arrival of the "aliens", he's really just been one of 4 good riders - and if you consider his Ducati period and compare it to Stoner's, it's hard to make a case for Rossi being better than Stoner, let alone every other rider who's ever raced.

Valentino for me.

He may not be the fastest over one lap but he has/had the intelligence and ability to make the tyres work over a race distance, often enabling him to embarrass his rivals with only a few laps remaining.

It's just a shame he couldn't make the Duke work.

This is what I still find amazing. Others race him but some how he is quick and kind on the tyres. Lorenzo is similar too.

Valentino is the best in a racing situation. Until he broke his leg he was looking good for the championship against Lorenzo so I think he can match up well to him. But Lorenzo's consistency is very good, almost Alonso like.

I still think there's at least a case to be made for Rossi being better than 99% of the all the riders anywhere who ever raced :D

if you look at the race results of Agostini, the best moto driver can be no-one else than him with 122 wins of 186 GPs, he hardly ever finished a race lower than second, such dominance has been unseen in motorsport:

You have to give Valentino the edge on the current era over Stoner.

Stoner is amazing, but he has proven to not be mentally as strong at times. He also doesn't have the number of championships... mostly due to the bike he was on and how short his career was.

If Valentino can win the championship this year, it will really solidify his place as the greatest.
