Gonna try something I haven't seen before on the Bulletin Board - Drive Of The Day.

I'm sure as it's my first attempt to create a poll that there could be fundamental errors in it's structure, but I hope not, and I hope it might provide a little fun - it's not as if there's an award for the winner apart from the obvious pride they can take away from the poll as DOTD, so this thread is not designed to be a battleground to determine which driver has the most loyal and vociferous fans. A bit of fun, OK?

You can of course support your vote with a comment to explain your decision, and hopefully you will do that.

I also need to explain that as a Racing Comments poll, there are only 20 possible poll choices, and so I have had to bunch together in one group the drivers from the Caterham and Marussia teams, so that is no reflection on those driver's candidature for the contest.

So, may I present the first Autosport Racing Comments Drive Of The Day Awards contest.

Alonso. Totally flawless. Though worth menitoning is Raikkonen that he brought home (on podium) that Lotus with hole in the nose cone.

To repeat Shiroo, Alonso was flawless so he is my driver of the day. The top 5 were excellent today.

Shout out to Ricciardo.

Alonso or Hulkenberg for me, though the latters race ruined by stupid sauber strategy vol.64.

Alonso, Ricciardo and Hulk are the standouts.... but if Hulkenberg had copied Vettel's strategy, I think he would've had 7th, 6th or even 5th

The top 4 had a good race but the driver of the race must to be Alonso. No mistakes and a great drive from start to finish.

Alonso drove a brilliant race. I liked how he overtook between DRS detection and activation and then used the DRS to get away from the driver he passed.

hard to decide depends on what properties define drive of the day

Quickest over the whole race was Alonso, Most exciting to watch were the last laps with Vettel on softs and good for the car he was in was Nico Hülkenberg

would have liked to vote for all of them

Vettel is the man, for what he had to work with in whole weekend, he has done just as good job, if not actually better than Alonso with his car.

Vettel lost out in two key moments:

1. Hulk overtake (both cars with DRS).

2. Overcooked corner in the final lap.

These two moments costed him the podium.

Fernando. He mentioned that Kimi gonna be the threat in the race so once he taking the lead he break away effectively. This is the key for his win.

Kimi. Maintained 2nd place despite a hole in the nose cone affecting the handling for the most of the race and the late pressure from Hamilton.

As a Kimi fan I voted Freddie. Totally flawless yesterday and it even seemed as if he had more up his sleeve. Shame about Kimi´s start and Checo´s idiocy that we did not get to see KR and FA fighting for the win.

Pretty much sums it up.

Some decent midfield performances too, but hard to sparkle from there.

Always had a soft spot on drivers who shoot themselves in foot and still manage to drive a brillant race. Of all the top four (who all excelled) I have to choose Räikkönen. Alonso did a great drive to be honest.

Jenson, the only driver who made a 2-stop strategy work and managed to drag the car up to 5th ahead of a Ferrari and a Lotus

Everyone in the top ten (except FM and RG) did a very good job... its easy to say FA did the best job as he won convincingly but its hard to see where any of the others could have done any more given the machinery and strategies that they were working with. It is also likely that FA's domination was a much down to the temp as anything he did in the car. A few degrees hotter or cooler and someone else would have had their tyres working really well and running away with the race - as we know that the three cars at the front had pretty similar fundamental pace.

This time it has to be the race winner, Alonso bitch-slapped the whole grid winning with a fairly sizeable margin, with his team-mate long left behind.

Vettel, Alonso and Hülkenberg
voted for Alonso.

Will bookmark to compare how many people will consider a flawless winner DotD next time a certain German does it.
I have a hunch :p
