He did not say Red Bull was the strongest car just in China, but for the overall start of the season. He is talking about drivers - Raikkonen, Vettel and Hamilton. So, take a guess. Even if it is Red Bull so what? Either way he is blaming one of them and he has always been very keen to do that. Forgive me for mistaking Alonso from his past swipes that this is about something else, not just Raikkonen.

That's BS. What he isn't factoring in, is back then they had refuelling.. and now they don't.

Back then, every stint was like the final stint of these Pirelli races.. and the tyres aren't so bad in that final stint, the cars are actually quite quick.

Vettel in the last race in those last 5 laps, it used to be (more) like that.. but all the time. The problem was, there was higher aero turbulance and no DRS. Some tracks were fine.. Bahrain was fine.. and I loved the 2006 Bahrain race for example.. and there was great racing and lots of overtakes but some tracks were horrible and it'd just be a train. Barcelona, for example.

The Finn is adamant the onus is on teams to adapt rather than pushing for rule changes.

"I don't think the racing at the front is any different to what it has been in the past," he said. "F1 hasn't really changed a lot in the 10-odd years that I've been here. Of course some years you've been able to go faster but then you do more stops, and shorter runs with less fuel. "In those years if you'd put 50 kilos more fuel in you'd have had to look after the tyres. It hasn't really changed."

"Sometimes now you have to look after the tyres, but if you did six stops you wouldn't have to look after your tyres. It's your option. Whatever is the fastest way for you to do the race, you try to do it.

Raikkonen thinks Pirelli is in a no-win situation and would be criticised whatever approach it took. "You can never please everybody so for Pirelli it's not an easy job," he said. "Whatever they do, there will be teams, drivers and people who will not be happy. In the past we had different tyres but some teams were not as happy with those tyres as other teams were. Sometimes you have some issues and you pay the price for it. But that's OK because otherwise it would be easy"

Raikkonen's team arguably has the most to benefit if Pirelli keep bringing dodgy tyres to the races.

That's what I get for not reading the PC or watching it on YT. The only one I haven't watched all season.

Lol, is Nando having another little dig at McLaren with his comment about Lewis?...

""Lewis ... last year he put McLaren in a very competitive position and this year he is putting Mercedes in a very competitive position."

As far as I can see, he sounded the same about Red Bull/Vettel and some general comments about driver not winning races in good cars. So, he has been taking little digs at many people.

Has Raikkonen even watched any of the races this year? There is a huge difference compared to 2010, back then you could actually see the drivers pushing and RACING.

Yup. When he wins is never about the car.

Or you saying other drivers have talked only after watching taped races?

I thought that drivers do analyse with a specific group each race (race engineer for one - I imagine, guy who runs split screen video, and there might be some other people in the room, as situation demands). I am of course differentiating between watching at home on the couch with a drink in hand, and as a job related activity.

The article says:
Alonso believes Red Bull did not fully exploit their potential last week: “In China, on race pace, Sebastian was quickest in all the stints, but had chosen a strange strategy for qualifying.”

No matter what strategy RB/Vettel used, Alonso was obviously quite a bit faster than anyone in terms of race pace in China and controlling the race. Who thinks that RB could have challenged him with a different strategy?

I expect Ferrari to be up there in Bahrain as well, but hopefully it will be closer.

Alonso has plucked this 'Vettel was fastest' claim out of thin air IMO. It's a fairly complex question and I doubt Alonso studied the race in great detail. It also suits his Ferrari is not fastest agenda

Alonso seems to have a bit of a Vettel complex. :D But after three years and three Vettel WDCs, I can't say I blame him for that.

 What an ignorant question!

You don't 'need' to watch races if you can win them. Also, he has watched better races from better, clearer & intelligent positions on track than you will ever get to see. Crazy to ask if a driver has watched a race in which he has actually driven & won, got podiums & scored points.

And he certainly knows what's happening better than your media gatherings.

Kobayashi might be an internet darling, but he had an over 3 year career in F1, and did not convince any of the team managers to hire him, even with all the money he had from racing fans in Japan.

Regarding Gutierrez, he is a 21 year old in his fourth F1 weekend for goodness sake, give the kid a chance.
