If the moderator will permit me the space, might I commend this e-Petitition:

Having seen Phil Hill endure his progressive Parkinson's syndrome and with other dear and respected friends variably afflicted, please bear all sufferers a moment's thought... If you are a British national please consider lending your support by signing on-line here:

It is a cruel insidious affliction, but help is at hand.
My next-door-neighbour is a Professor of Neurology and world authority on the disease and is currently doing amazing work in this regard.
He is leading the world with his surgery and operates on patients under a local anaesthetic during which he implants an electrical probe into the affected part of the brain. His patients are wheeled in with the terrible shakes, and walk out again a couple of hours later, tremor free. Amazing stuff.

Having seen Jack Bono suffer from this awful disease, until his death, I applaud any efforts to help find a cure....or at least relief.

Jack was a good friend, as well as my mentor.

Done and added the link to my Facebook page.
My step-father (and W.O. Bentley's grandson) is severely affected by Parkinsons and it is incredibly sad to see his decline.

Done. 1,747 signatures so far.

My father suffered from this dreadful disease back when poor Terry-Thomas was perhaps the best-known sufferer. Treatments have improved, as Michael J Fox demonstrates, but it is still a truly horrible condition to have to live with.

Done. My brother in law has just been diagnosed with this.

Great fellers, thank you - possibly a total waste of time but let's at least stir up a fuss... I do quite enjoy doing that.

Done.

An old flat-mate was diagnosed in his early fifties. He and his wife have coped so far, but know and fear what may happen to him.

Done - I had 2 friends tell me, within 10 days of each other, that they have Parkinsons; one is a fellow(ess) poet - As it happened, I had an IBM ViaVoice set-up which I was able to give her, so that she could dictate straight to Word.

Done, because it's a worthy reminder to the authorities not to get complacent and you are so good at stirring up a fuss
