Really great chat and a cool anecdote of Monaco 2006 at the end told by Allen.

I thought it was great to listen to, and initially wondered if this was where the infamous twitter pic took place - but no the interview was separate to the dinner that Mark and Alonso had.

They certainly do seem very friendly, and it is interesting to hear them talk about 'other motor races' outside F1. I've always thought Mark will probably go on to race something else after he retires from F1 but didn't think Alonso would, however the way he talked it sounds like he will race other things...

The anecdote about Alonso at Monaco 2006 was already known in 2006 ;)

What we didn't know is that it's Webber who shared it :)

Uhmm...

Stuck:

...the 'Multi-21' affair rolls on. German motor racing chief Hans-Joachim Stuck said he thinks the relationship between Vettel and Vettel is now close to untenable.

"If Webber gets the chance to wipe Vettel out, I can imagine him doing so," he is quoted by SID news agency.

"A fight like that is not what is needed. Teammates need to challenge each other, but it has to be fair and friendly," added Stuck...

Isn't there some movie "I slept with the enemy"?

I guess significance of that dinner in some respect equals to Lauda's amazement that while Enstone is being held above water by Mercedes's money, they do drive other cars. I experienced the same in US - Toyota got trashed at Ford's parking lot - and in Japan, where Honda wasn't allowed to park at Toyota's grounds.

But... go ahead, nothing surprises me anymore.

Alternatively, you can study Hagakure to understand what a clan identity and loyality really means to modern samurais [business people of modern day]. Alonso talks about Bushido, but seems to have no clue (as many others, so it appears), otherwise we would not have these pictures at all.

Cherry picking again I see Sakae. Pity you didn't include the following excerpt from the same article:

Webber, at the centre of sabotage rumours and claims he might quit F1 for Porsche next year, accused the media of "paranoia".

"I have known Fernando for 13 years," he said. "Many drivers catch up socially. I may meet up here with Jenson (Button). And why shouldn't I?

"We have social lives too!

"If that's the biggest subject, you guys (reporters) are in trouble to be honest."

Alonso also pointed a finger at the overactive minds of journalists.

"In Spain we say 'The thief thinks everyone is a thief'," he said.

"If I see a photo of someone having dinner I think he's having dinner.

"But when I put it on Twitter, all the replies were about Vettel and stuff like that. Those are conspiracy theorists," the Ferrari driver added.

"The truth is that Mark and I have known each other for 13 years and we have the same manager. We talked about cycling, not F1."

Bold? Really?
Looks like Webber's fans are very touchy when darling is subjected to a critique for lacking any sensitivity, common sense, or any other of his usual indiscretions, and only comfortable when Dr. Marko or Vettel are in cross-hairs. Go and figure.

Not touchy at all. Just like to see the full story given, not just bits that suit your agenda. Lacking sensitivity & common sense? :rotfl: Me thinks you're the one being touchy here Sakae. Who apart from you even thinks that? It's ridiculous. What harm has having dinner together had apart from upsetting paranoid fans like yourself? Mark & Fred are mates, if they want to eat together good for them. Get over it.

Dear Dilligaf
Would less dining, and more driving perhaps help here?
Sincerely, as ever

What's the matter with Webber's quali? Is he betting on coming from behind on this track? Lets move to another thread with this.

Made a couple of mistakes on his last flyer but qualifying 5th wasn't too bad. Grid penalty puts him back to 7th but at least he's on the clean side of the track. If he can get a decent start like he did in Malaysia hopefully he'll challenge for a podium which would be a good result in his 200th start.

Oh come on man. Nando is being completely disingenuous there. He tweeted the picture. He expected to get thousands of comments saying "oh you are at dinner" or "bon appetit?"

Alonso is not new to this game. He knew exactly what would happen.

Well maybe not the part where Vettel asked if they were naked... :rotfl: I love that kid...

Yeah, I only can't decide if it's even funnier than all those sidesplitting names he gives his cars.

Going back to the main thread topic, folks, I can't be arsed to listen to James Allen. Is the anecdote just the one about how Alonso was considering an unorthodox form of protest if the stewards had looked the other way about Schumacher parking his car at Racasse? If so, that was known years ago and that it was Webber who blabbed. Still funny, though. I bet if the stewards had known about it, they'd have found Schumacher not guilty just for the sheer hell of it.
