Do you really expect McLaren to say "We are sorry, Lewis. We treated you like crap, despite being the only driver in over a decade to bring home the bacon for our team"?

McLaren, with all its Ronspeak, of all teams?

I just like to hear both sides to a story, thats all. I dont think thats unreasonable.

So you think it's normal for a team to welcome a rival team's employee into their garage while their car is in parts and clearly visible? Actually don't answer that, of course you would think its ok if it's Lewis.

DC, Schumacher, Alonso all went into their former team's garage. It's common for drivers who spent a lot of times with given teams to visit them in the paddocks every once in a while. I don't see any issue with it.

Besides, based on the pace of the -28, there's not much worth copying or stealing anyway.

Well what would he really expect? I actually found this tiny part of his interview a bit weird. I am not embarrassed as a Hamilton fan for what he has said so far about McLaren but I expect him to be a bit more bottled up. Mercedes has given him a heck of lot more freedom than I ever expected. It could equally be good or bad for his image. McLaren is a very different team and the changes started rolling out last season because in all honesty, Whitmarsh hasn't had a successful reign at McLaren. At the end though, who knows whether Lewis is actually being the great rival he is, by trying to destabilize McLaren, at least their mechanics for that matter.

In terms of public opinion, it's safe to say Hamilton's won his bet so far.

While they were driving for the competition? I think you're making it up and if in fact what you say is true, then either those teams were unreasonably generous or they simply didn't have parts lying around.

But scrap all of that, I actually think you've completely confused "garage" with "motorhome" or "hospitality area". Such is your posting quality.

Hamilton wanted out, he got it!

It's always been an issue with Hamilton, the attention he receives means everything gets blown up

It works both ways, the honeymoon at Mercedes will end sooner or later and journos will stop asking about McLaren

I don't think that David ever visited McLaren's garage while driving for Red Bull, Schumacher visited Ferrari after he finished his F1 career, Alonso never went to Renault team's garage while driving for McLaren/Ferrari.

One thing is to visit motorhome or "hospitality area" but team's garage is something completely different! Hamilton was/is/will be always welcomed at McLaren's motorhome!

Also you said that there wasn't much worth copying from mp4-28, yeah, like Hamilton knew how fast/slow car is in Australia :drunk: I think you are trying too much to defend Hamilton, that's all.

Would Kimi be welcome in the McLaren or Ferrari garages? I doubt it.

It tells you Big Ron and a few others are still pissed he left, and rightly so, Perez is not upto the job, and Button aint all that unless he has a perfect car.

Mclaren lost Hamilton through treating him like he had nowhere else to go and must sign, their plan went tits up and they were left with massive egg on their face.

It was criminal to lose him to Merc, and they are obviously a little bitter about it...

Yeah, that'll be it...

From my past experience with drivers that are no longer w/ the team, but still friends with many of the mechs, there is a certain amount of circumspection involved, on both ends. If LH comes in to say hello, but there is no eye contact and his eyes are darting left and right to see what's up on the car or on the workbench, he'd been politely told to scram. As long as LH has been in the business though, I'm relatively sure he would not try that kinda sneaky ****, or he would go from being an old friend to being a sneaky bastard that would never be welcome again. He probably was just cruising by and decided to say hey, and was told to get the hell out of here, which is why he's upset over it, and to me, he's got a legitimate reason to be a bit peeved over their treatment of him, particularly since it's more than obvious he gave them his all while he was in their seat, and there is no doubt in his mind that he had made many friends on the team over his long association with them. Instead he gets treated like a schmuck.

... and by Sam Michael of all people.
