The above is an F3 racer that was found in a barn in the South West of England. My friend Kenny Baird is trying to trace its origins etc.

ANY help would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks

Maybe you've tried it, but have a look at www.500race.org.. They have a fairly comprehensive list of marques with brief histories.

The Hill might be a possibility:

(click on 'Marques' then 'Hill')

I have bounced it around a few people, and it probably isn't any of the Martin cars. Whilst wider than the known chassis (which the Hill might be) the construction doesn't seem to match anything that he did:
- The tying of the twin tubes - more in a Cooper Mk VI style
- The front structure is different (the Hill had something very similar to the Kiefts)
- No space for a fuel tank between driver and engine

The twin-tube chassis, and what appears to be Kieft-inspired swing axle (twin arms strapped together, fairly high pivot) suggests 1952 and later - perhaps allow a couple of years for the ideas to form and parts to be made by a handy amateur. A nice job has been done, which suggests experience. But there's still many cars for which we still have no confirmed images.

The CRM looks as though it could be a candidate. Smilar shape to the body work. Austin 7 type wheels which IIRC had three stud hubs. Rear centre casing drum brake ( which could have been replaced by a disc jobby at a later date ) the fuel tank was housed well forward in the nose & not above/below drivers legs Maybe ( always open to correction) but just a stab in the dark;;The late Bill jones drove one but my memory of it is not that clear
