Went for a meal with like minded friends and the name Andreas Georgeades came up. A friend remembers him racing a 3 cylinder Honda that he had built himself in the sixties. They also thought he had ridden in the Isle of Man. The name struck a chord with me as I had seen a guy who had built a V12 from two CBX motors and he was indeed the same guy. Someone thought he was South African but hopefully there will be someone who knows out there. Here's a pic of him and the bike. Any more info on this man ?

He's been mentioned on the forum on a few occasion, among unusual things he also built a 500 cc Honda 4 based on a car ( S-600 ) engine which he converted back to air coooling ( !!!!!) and he uesed it with some level of success in the early-70's 500cc world championship (!!!!! again...)

A couple of pics of the beast from the french pit-lane forum.

The second one is from a thread about the 1972 French GP with many original pics, which I encourage you to take a look at ...

Has that bike got a huge front brake or is it running a small rim? Looking at that he might as well have just stuck the tyre on the hub :D

The TT database has him down as 27th in the 1964 Senior TT riding a G50 and a DNF in the 1965 Senior.

At the 1970 'SA TT' meeting at the Roy Hesketh circuit I seem to recall 'George the Greek' on a multicylinder 500 machine being allowed by Ago to lead most of the first lap of a race before he simply blasted past and got on with it.

Was anyone else there?

More on my homespun theories regarding good handlers : this seems to be a pretty accomplished attempt at shoehorning a big lump of a motor into something that would otherwise be hopelessly tall and foul handling. The top tubes appear to be Manx?

Russel, I reckon you're right, the article in french above does mention that the frame was a Manx "whose bottom bed* has been cut off"

*we say "berceau" in french, which translates as "pram"
