Poor Fernando. Always facing awkward questions about Vettel and Germany when he's sitting just next to him.

I'd feel terribly uncomfortable. Alonso is shy in public, no matter what people say about him.

Daniel's face was just hilarious when they asked him if he's targeted by Red Bull. :rotfl:

I thought the best part of the interview was really when Fernando was talking about the german F1-team(s) XD and Sebs expression was great at that too ....

but yeah the questions to both Seb and Fernando about each other are getting awkward

I also am sad we barely heard from the backrow :o I love Esteban & I'm growing to like Ricciardo

Interesting that Mercedes is getting mentioned as potential winners, they looked really bad at the first of the Barcelona pre-season tests. I know that is many weeks ago now, and the temperature was extremely low (I had a wooly hat and gloves on for all of the days), so perhaps I should not use that as a benchmark. If anything, Ferrari would be my favourite to win this weekend, or perhaps Lotus; again based on their performance from the pre-season test, especially their running in traffic capability. Mercedes may get pole, but like I say I don't expect them to win.

Great to see the stupid awkward question tradition being carried on by the paddock journo torchbearers. If I'd be a driver, I'd make myself a comfy noose for those PCs.

Camera model was not stated in that article, but photographer was probably referring to camera-system, rather than camera body alone. Canon camera with motorized body with attached 300 mm tele can easy cost around 8,000 USD - depends where you buy it.

He's a F1 driver, it comes with the job, don't like it then don't become one and give up the 20 million salary.

A canon EOS-1D costs 6 grand. He's a pro photographer so most likely he's not using a hobbyist camera.

It's evidence of an assault in progress.

As for Alonso's reaction I can only assume there must be some history between him and this photographer. I bet every hotel he appears out of will always have photographers present to some extent so it's not something that would be new to him.

I don't blame Alonso at all. But after years in the spotlight, he should have known better than that.

And I can imagine people's outrage if it was Lewis or Vettel instead of Alonso. :D This forum would have exploded with words like "brat," "arrogant," "immature," "prima donna," "jerk," etc.

sometimes these photographers are really too intruding.... I dont follow Alonso so much, don't know how many private pics they have of him, but those pictures they made of Seb in Spain a week ago or so... where he seemed to be all in private, I thought they were a bit intruding especially the ones of them in the restaurant

Caused a dangerous collision: 3 points
Dangerously forced another driver off the track: 2 points

I really, really hate this sort of attitude. Nowhere in his contract does it state that he has to give up his right to privacy. Its not part of the job. Its just what famous people often have to deal with because of crappy, pestering paparazzi.

Like a lot of things I can't decide whether it's the fault of the photographers (I detest paps, who are right at the end of the spectrum obviously) or us for creating the demand that they satisfy.

Yeah, I guess being famous means he suddenly isn't allowed to leave from a hotel with his girlfriend while being treated like a human being. In Spain journal photographers are oftenly incredibly rude and impolite.

If behaving like stalkers is now OK, then, I know what I'll do next time Miley Cyrus comes to Spain.

That cannot be true. It has got to be Kimi dressed up as FA :-)

I would really like to see what happened before the incident - that is not like Fernando. OTOH this could alleviate some posters hate for Kimi being pissed off at photographers and/or journos coming too close.

I'm afraid the inescapable conclusion is that it's us mainly, although the pap still has a choice but in this world atm the arseholes float to the top.

I think that's not the original quote. I remember what A. Senna said during one interview -paraphrasing - when (in race) I see an empty spot ahead of me, I (am the one who) must have it!

My post was placed waaaaay before the thread was openned. :o

Furthermore I don't bevieve the fact deserves a thread for itself.
IMO, It was just a minor fact that happened in the Spanish GP week.
