Keep this up and it'll start to wear a bit thin. We'll have to tread carefully.

The local newspapers (in this case the Estadao) are layng foundations for a local hero story on Tony Kanaan who hurt three tendons of his right hand in the last race. He talks about immobilizing his thumb and molding the wheel to adapt to his hand together with his medics. This way he will be able to maximize his chances of seeing the race weekend through!

What a guy!!!

On other news the organizers expect full grand stands even if Rubinho will not be racing :-)

It was only a matter of time before wear became an issue.

Winter should be coming around here in Sao Paulo, but the weather has been real hot. Also no rain in like two weeks!

Are the Indycars weather sensitive? I guess it's hot and dry in most parts of US of A as well, so situation is normal in that aspect?

IndyCar does race in the rain (on road courses), if that's what you're asking. They are no strangers to hot weather.

If it doesn't rain, wouldn't it be the first time they've had a race at Sao Paulo with no weather effecting the race? The circuit sucks, but always a fun race. A bit of a crapshoot, with some odd races (Simona leading a few years ago, the first corner complex creating big pile-ups).

Much better than the virtual laps.

Is the first chicane different this year? I seem to remember they said some changes would be made but I might have just imagined it.

Hunter-Reay and Viso () complete an Andretti Autosport 1-2-5. Another good qualifying performance from Franchitti in third. Indycar's very bad at posting results up on its website so I'm gonna go ahead and assume there's no one at all in positions 7-25.

Apparently Bore Day wasn't last?

Okay! Will Power's in 22nd! What the hell.

I'm going out on a limb here and predicting a Willard W. Power victory tomorrow.

Well I think they like to not post the quali times before it airs in the US, which in some of the races it's tape delayed. But in general they just suck at it, lol.

A James Jakes red flag left Will Power and Hélio Castroneves without a flying lap.

I thought he was in the habbit of saving his bad luck for the last race of the season. Arguably 2013 is his best bet to win yet with the largest percentage of non-oval races. But he just has no luck at all.

I don't think his spin in the last race of last year was bad luck. It was bad driving. The pressure got to him and he gave away the Championship.

Oh, the new Clio EuroCup thing looks amazing. There's nearly 30 entries and it's a turbo charged paddleshift Clio with like 225hp. I want to race one so bad.

Thruxton's lap record is 1:01.96 in an unspecified EuroBOSS car. I'd imagine the current Indycars would be in that sort of range. Comes out to about a 135mph lap.

Damon Hill did a demo run in a Williams FW15C in 1993 in 57.6 seconds. Trying to figure out the relative performance of a DW12

Mid to low 50s probably. Because a Euroboss won't be driven competitively and tire technology has come on *a lot* since 1993. And the DW12 actually makes big downforce.
