With said regret I make this topic to let you know of the sad passing of Mick Ronke today.Mick is the chief executive of Winton Motor Raceway in Australia. One of the leading motor racing venues in Australia with out his dedication Winton would not be what it is today. The track was built almost 52 years ago when several key motor racing venues were springing up around the country.

Very sad. The current Winton venue is really a testament to Mick. It has batted above the average for decades.
My commiserations to family and many friends.

Mick really was larger than life. I have some great memories in the pre Winton Motor Raceway when he was the leading figure in the Benalla Auto Club and the various " battles" to get categories to come to Winton. Before the circuit was lengthened it was always liked by Group N/ App J category because of the easy going nature of the organisation.

He was also one of the leading figures of the foundation of the AASA. I hope that it continues as it has helped controll CAMS somewhat,
I reckon in the early days of Group N I raced there 4-5 times a year at Winton including the Austin 7 organised Winton Historic. Mick always gave our category a great hearing when organising his events. But July at Winton is not a warm pace to be!!!
Although he could also be hard to deal with at times.

Sad to hear of his passing. Winton won't be the same with out him.
RIP Mick.

Sad news to hear...

I always got on well with Mick and appreciated his efforts to help Bob Jane with the AASA. Some things I didn't agree with, but he certainly proved himself to be a powerhouse in guiding the club to its continued control of the extended Winton and ownership of Wakefield Park.
