I have come across devastating news that could mean end the world (as we know it).

ARCA at Talladega tomorrow.

. . .

. . .Oh wait, that happens every year? Nevermind then. The Mayan Prediction almost called in late, but crisis was adverted when Jon Wes Townley's pole time was disallowed after failing post-qualifying inspection, preventing a Milka Duno/JWT front row.

Anyway, NW and Sprint Cup at Talladega this weekend. NW has already had both [meaningless] practices and will qualify tomorrow.

Practice 1 and Final Practice

NW Event Schedule:

Wednesday, May 1st
4:00 PM NNS HAULERS ENTER (TRUCK PARKING ONLY)

Thursday, May 2nd
2:00 PM NNS ROOKIE & SPOTTER MEETINGS & RANDOM DRAWING
3:00 PM-3:45 PM NNS PRACTICE
4:00 PM-4:50 PM NNS FINAL PRACTICE
5:00 PM NNS REGISTRATION CLOSES

Friday, May 3rd

6:00 AM NNS GARAGE & REGISTRATION OPENS
11:10 AM (12:10 PM/ET) NNS QUALIFYING (TWO LAPS, ALL POSITIONS)
3:00 PM NNS GARAGE & REGISTRATION CLOSES

Saturday, May 4th
9:00 AM NNS GARAGE & REGISTRATION OPENS
9:00 AM NNS ACCESS TO HAULERS ONLY
9:45 AM NNS SPOTTERS MEETING
10:45 AM NNS DRIVER/CREW CHIEF MEETING (NASCAR Nationwide Series, GARAGE Area)
1:30 PM NNS DRIVER INTRODUCTION
2:00 PM (3:00 PM) NNS RACE (117 LAPS, 311.22 MILES)
3:00 PM NNS REGISTRATION CLOSES

On another note, this is my reaction to seeing Kyle Busch NOT entered into the race this week (replaced by Joey Coulter).

There are Cup guys of course - they are Kasey Kahne, Kurt Busch, Danica Patrick, and Joey Logano.

Sprint Cup. The biggest news is that Denny Hamlin will 'return', but will get out the car as soon as possible.

Sprint Cup Schedule

Friday, May 3
11:10 am NNS Qualifying
1:00 - 1:45 pm NSCS Practice
2:30 - 3:30 pm NSCS Final Practice
4:00 pm ARCA Racing Series 250

Saturday, May 4
11:10 am NSCS Qualifying / Impound
1:30 pm NNS Driver Introductions
2:00 pm NNS Aaron's 312

Sunday, May 5
11:30 am NSCS Driver Introduction
12:00 pm NSCS Aaron's 499

Hopefully, there are no trains ala Daytona or, for a Talladega example, the end of the 2006 UAW-Ford 500 (lulzy ending, though).

It was 40 years ago at Talladega Bobby Isaac heard The Voice and parked it in the pits.
I wonder how much- logistically- it would take to install a small speaker/receiver in Kyle Busch's car this weekend...

"Kyle.......Kyle. Pull over. You have Low T."

Bah. Probably get caught by NASCAR scrutineers. I will just say it to my tv. :p

Of course they booked us in an some obscenely expensive hotel so I'll hopefully have full wiFi and a decent TV feed, but ya never know, so maybe I can catch the race and the rollicking good time on line w/ all y'all.

You guys are getting a little to excited about Qualifying at a plate race. It really doesn't mean anything.

 Very fierce grid at NNS.

IMO up until P21, Vickers, all have chances to win it.

:| John Wes Townley didn't make it... its Danica's fault.

Hamlin has to use the hatch to get in/out of the car. It takes 1:06 min :well:

Actually Chicken Boy was around the Top 10 in qualifying. Turns out they never unloaded the suitcases full of Zaxby's cash out of the trunk before qualifying, and the car was deemed too low to race.

I'm unsure of what penalties will be handed down to the team at this point, although I suspect NASCAR will come down on them very heavily.
They may even insist John Wes Townley continue racing for the team for the duration of the year..

 Jumping off your car is always good for lower spine injuries. He could be in a huge wreck (on lap1)before he even pits unless he decides to start at the back and trails the field.

I'd say it's a good indication of which cars are fast and therefore in the hunt for the win. Or are you saying Johanna Long (no offence to her or her team) is going to win the race?

Yes it was AMAZING we did a lap by lap but for some reason about 20 of the posts were deleted.
But that could've been because we were also talking about how much of an ASSHAT you are Ross.

Looks like they decided to use the cash that they forgot in the No. 25 trunk after qualifying.

Townley in the No. 10 Tristar team in place of Jeff Green.

She stands just as good a chance as any other car that doesn't park. That's plate racing.

I was surprised to see Pastrana on the pole. Roush typically doesn't run all that well at plate tracks. With him and Bayne up front, they must have their engines and aero finally figured out for those tracks.

At this point if Kurt turns good laps in practice and the car count stays as low as it is he could qualify. Heck he may do even better than Alesi did last year.

Andretti says he got to know Busch some last year when the two were working together on a different project.

????

Are they referring to the possible initial contract discussions when Andretti was considering a NASCAR team or some other shoot?

Probably when they were planning on taking over the world or something... but that is from Fox News so I would take it with a grain of salt until they say something themselves

Weather forecast looks pretty tough. Steady rain scheduled tomorrow morning, which would give Edwards the pole. There could be a window to get the required distance for a called NW race tomorrow; if not, then it'll be a Talladega double header on Sunday. However, there is a scheduled scattered showers forecast for Sunday.

Sweeet.
Happily ensconced at the Biltmore and the bro in law ensures me we are NOT missing this race.
Double good, a fellow NASCAR fanatic and we both brought a case of beer, so we should get through a trying distant relatives wedding day.

Townley in for Green at Dega: #25-John Wes Townley's qualifying time was thrown out because his car failed pre-qualifying inspection. His sponsorship was moved to #10-Jeff Green's car so he could race Saturday.(ESPN.com)(5-3-2013)

John Wes Townley, checked out at care center yesterday and OK to race, is sore from his ARCA accident and won't run the NNS race. #nascar
