Elaborate?

That's the reason why EVERYONE who deserves a higher position doesn't have one. Racing, corporate culture, popularity of artists, success in business.

I don't always watch Nationwide, but when I do, I watch Talladega.

I see a small Big One. Anything interesting happened before?

Shit, heart in my throat as the 54 slid down the track. He's alright though.

I'm glad the NNS cars can still tandem. I dig it.

Totally. I got so sick of "purists" whining about the two-car draft on superspeedways in the big series, you can hate it all you want but it's tremendously exciting.

Really? I am not a fan of "hump" racing.

Only shit, it's really dark.

I understand the caution compared to similar scenarios.

Yeah, a spin into the infield is a spin into the infield but that caution was fair enough imo.

Randomly deciding only one GWC and cutting 10 laps off the race, on the other hand..

they made a good choice cutting 10 laps, look how dark it was at the end already
I'm really surprised about the last caution because lately (like last few years) they were waiting a lot longer to get the yellow out, even more on a such long track. Hell, I think one time they didn't even called the caution on a small track with a crash on the finish line
Anyway, it was a good call, but it should be like this all the time

They threw the caution this time because it was pretty dark (look at the sky during the Logano interview) and on-coming drivers and there spotters had little shot of seeing the spinning cars.

If it had still been daylight, I doubt the caution would have been called.

It's time to install lights me thinks. Hell, all NASCAR tracks need to have lights imo.

Maybe they shouldn't have started the race so late to begin with. At the very least, shorten it beforehand. I understand trying to race today for the fans, that's fine but I was surprised they attempted the distance they did. You're probably right about the darkness factor but if that's truly the reason for the caution, they had no business racing to begin with.

The finish also reminded of me complaining on here about the Daytona race. They wreck everywhere on the last lap, no caution. Today they wreck on the last lap, there's a caution and they award Smith the race. Like I said then, I don't care either way, but they need to be consistent. Either throw a caution or let them race back to the line. I know what they did at the 500. They wanted the show of a race back to the line because that's their big race, regardless of rules enforcement. Just be consistent. It's not fair to the competitors nor the fans. Kahne said post race "NASCAR always switches it up, you never know what's going to happen". You shouldn't have your drivers out there wondering how things may get called. It's an unnecessary situation that could actually be dangerous in certain scenarios.

Before last night, it hadn't occurred to me that they all didn't. It can't be *that* expensive, even for a 2-mile track.

Here's something to watch during the commercials and caution flags, or maybe the rain...one of the more important races in NASCAR history, the 1955 Southern 500 in Darlington.

There are a lot of old NASCAR races on the web in video form. If you are of a mind to watch any of them, watch this one. Very well done period newsreel, edited from five-plus hours of race length to a few action-packed minutes...but what makes it really worthwhile are all the vignettes featuring Herb Thomas, Yunick, the Flock brothers, Fireball, Curtis, the whole crowd. Far more than words or photos on a page, here you see them in living form. For example, see Fonty Flock judging a beauty contest! That alone is worth the ticket. Today everyone would be extremely uncomfortable, but in those days he was merely considered colorful.

Thanks Magoo. We haven't seen you around these parts for a while.

Looking forward to Darlington next week. Shame the trucks miss out on it, and Dega.
Need more trucks.
