Spengler's title defense took such a nose dive in the last couple of races.

DTM starting at 1330 CET instead of 1400 is ******** because they finish at the same time as MotoGP does....

Rockenfellers rivals don't stop eleminating theirself and doing mistakes.

For the result we have to wait what penalties will be handed out today. Never complain about too many penalties in Formula 1...

Farfus  Fun race with the Spengler vs. Wickens kerfuffle.

Another win for Farfus, unstoppable today but the big news is that Rocky is the champ! Congrats to him, Audi & the doctor! Great season for Rocky, he deserves it.

I don't know if it was also shown in the international broadcast but, on German TV, one of the BMW bosses said they would probably appeal the decision not to penalise Rocky for the start.

There was also this very close pit release.

I enjoyed Ekstrom climbing to the forth.

At the end they said that Farfus too was under investigation for the safety car restart but I hope the results stand as they are. I want one of those fancy Audi celebration beers.

Good job by Rockenfeller - deserving champion. Still clearly remember his monster shunt at Le Mans in 2011 and fearing the worst. With that in mind, definitely a "feel good" story to see him taking the title.

A great championship win for Rocky and good to see Scheider back at the front of the grid. Despite a few dull races, I did really enjoy the DTM this year, the championship felt wide open for a long time and you genuinely felt like at least half the field could be in with a chance.

Lets hope for an even better 2014 - anyone betting against Farfus is a fool.

Well done Timo. Anyway, am I the only 1 sat here thinking "setting off a load of fireworks while the rest of the field have yet to cross the line and the smoke is blocking the fans view is a completely brainless idea"? When everyone finishes, yeah, ok, maybe, but when the rest of the field have, and the fans can't see anything because of the smoke (for that matter neither can the commentators out of their commentary box)? Bonkers.

Well done to Glock.  And yeah, while the fireworks give a nice photo op as the winning car crosses the line the resultant smoke does spoil the view for those in the grandstands and would rob them of seeing any final corner battles.

Odd having someone actually singing the winning national anthem on the podium (what is it with it always being (what seems like) opera singers singing national anthems)? They always sound worse than horrific

Great end to the season, with an exciting race. Really glad DTM made the step of streaming their races for free this year. I think it is the way a lot of forms of racing will progressively move to over the next few years, so hope they had enough viewers this year to warrant doing it again in 2014.

One observation though - please, please use someone other than Andrew Marriott for a commentator. Or at least get an expert, like a former driver, to commentate alongside him. Marriott is good as a pit lane reporter, but as lead commentator he just sound so dull, uninterested, and even confused, that it makes you feel like the race (even if it was exciting, like it was today) is really boring. I had to mute the commentary and resort to listening to music to avoid the genuine possibility of him sending me to sleep.

What about having DC as an expert? As long as there are no clashes with F1, it'd be good to have him in the commentary box, having driven the cars for a few years.

Oh yeah, and great job by Timo Glock today. Bet that beats flogging around at the back of the grid in a useless Marussia. Classy move to dedicate win to de Villota and Sean Edwards as well.

Was painful to see Merhi at the back of the pack for most of the year. Not so long I thoght the kid had what it takes to make it to F1!.

I´m glad he ended the year on a high with a fantastic 2nd.

God knows why Marriot gets continued work commentating - he has a speech impediment!

Dude whilst that completely sucks, isn't it more likely that there's a rights issue in your country? I'm pretty sure they can't stream for free in countries that have specific TV deals themselves? Anyway... yet to see the race today but I've never seen DTM in the rain so it'll be an experience I'm sure!

You are completely true mate. Just felt the need to rant. Keep calm and carry on. :smoking:

Go Timo.

But the UK has a rights deal with BT/ESPN I think, yet various quali and races have been streamed live on this site and I've been able to see them.....

Well I guess it's one big conspiracy by the big guys against us, suburban EU folk.

That being said, I have a particular pet peeve with 'no permission youtube vids'. So if I'm from Mozambique I can't bloody satisfy my racing because of reasons. Hogwash.

That said, the DTM is ridiculously not racing in the UK next year so we should feel snubbed too.

I tend to think an international championship with no British round isn't worthy of the name

I've just watched the race (I couldn't watch it live because at the same time we had SBK... Busy agenda today... ) and I enjoyed it very, very much.

Mehri did wonderfully, gosh he started from the back, a jump start  and after all that, he finished second...   But please, have your hair cut, it doesn't have to be short only a little bit.

Good for Timo! I like the guy and he drove extremely well and he deserved the win

And well, well, Bruno, what a second half of the season but at least, he finished on the podium.  :)

And last but not least, Mike is the champion, good for him. Great season and title well deserved.

Off topic - May I say that I love Mrs. Lange's  dress?    Oh well, I'm a fashion nuts

DTM 2013 is over.

It is not an international championship - it is a German championship with overseas rounds, like the British GT and British F3 etc.

The skipping of Brands is no loss, the races there were interminably dull, I was there in 2012 and don't remember anything happening during the actual race, all the passes were just in the pit lane. The support races were far more entertaining.

There are probably two other factors involved here - Jonathan Palmer's strict rules on not leaving the track will be almost impossible to keep to with the DTM, they routinely run wide on fast corners on every circuit. Plus, the DTM is really a sales pitch for the big three brands - the UK is pretty well saturated with Audi, BMW and Merc cars, if they want to expand to new markets then that is where the series will go, hence Hungary, Russia and China. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Middle Eastern race in 2015 - perhaps they can use it as a season opener rather than waiting until May to start their races.

Are there any lap times from Audi's young driver test? Among them was Robin Frijns.
