Do you think this year's F1 calendar is the worst ever? So many long breaks between races, it has never been like that.. Three weeks between Malaysia and China, three weeks between Bahrain and Spain, three weeks between Canada and Great Britain, another three weeks after Germany, and than four after Hungary.. From July 8th until August 25 there will be only one race, one race in seven weeks. F1 is by far my favorite sport, but this year I am totally uninterested for F1 between those huge breaks, I am reading much less news than ever before. I really hope it won't be like this in 2014.

The race in Hungary is a bit weird, calendar wise. But as I said in the build up/speculation Barcelona - Thread. It is better for the teams, both economical and personel-wise.

It does feel if there's a lot of gaps in the first half of the season, and then a lot of events crammed in towards the end. Quite how you'd work it different is a harder question to answer.

3 weeks between Malaysia and China is becoming the norm so not exclusive to 2013 I don't think
3 weeks between Bahrain and Spain the same
3 weeks between Canada and Britain is only because of the New Jersey race being cancelled so that's a 1 off
3 weeks between Germany and Hungary is only because of the mooted 'TBA European race' not taking place so that's a 1 off
4 weeks between Hungary and Belgium is pretty much the norm (though last year it was 5 weeks)

So really when you look at it, 2 of the 3 week gaps are 1 offs, and the 4 week gap is actually 1 week less than last year, so not really as bad as it seems on paper.

Really, how come we have three times back to back races in october and november then? There are six races planned between october 6h to november 24th

This year's calendar is poorly spread out. Some late season races need to be moved to the early season.

Worst ever, I don't think so. Others have rightly pointed out when the season stretched from January and there were even fewer races.

I'm not sure if it was 1999 or 2000 or around that time that ever race was two weeks apart and the teams hated it because they got no real break, so a couple of longer breaks are needed. But at the moment it's pretty poorly thought out. I hope next year they can get things fixed a bit.

Is there any reason India and Korea are in the late season apart from to give the organisers more time to prepare their tracks the first year? They have no real tradition of a certain spot on the calendar so I imagine at least one could "do a Malaysia" and move to near the beginning. Obviously Singapore and Abu Dhabi are preferred at opposite ends to Malaysia and Bahrain respectively.

With major non-points races held at Brands, Syracuse, Goodwood and Silverstone in March-May. Not to mention various national F2 events featuring many of the usual GP names.

I very much agree. I think the calendar should be something like this:

I am not saying they should be racing every week. 19 races is more than enough, but we had 19 races in 2005, 2010, 2011 and in my opinion schedules in those years were a lot better than in 2013. 2010 calendar was really good.

Sochi is on the Black Sea, so a little warmer than most of Mother Russia. According to Wiki it has an average high in November of 59°F (15°C) and average low is 46°F (8°C) so not as bad as you imagine but not exactly perfect.

Well, first of all Russia is a very large country and Sochi is one of the most Southern parts of the country there are. However, if they have winter Olympic games then I'd suspect that November shoud be cold. Unless there are mountains.

It's so NOT cold in Sochi that they're importing snow for the 2014 Olympics, aren't they?

It is bizarre to have a three week break in June. This year's calendar seems to be a mess. This is the third three-week break and we have had only 7 races so far.
