Is there an accountant here who can adjust these figures to reflect the taxes deducted from their respective country of residence?

Would be much the same, most have a residence in Switzerland I believe.

What I was reasoning was that for example Hamilton who lives in Monaco (no income tax!) will take home more cash than some one like Alonso who lives in Spain where they tax their sportsmen aggresivley.

Yup, good point for sure, but that's what I was saying. Switzerland has almost no taxation on income as far as I know. Several drivers have residences in tax havens such as Monaco and Switzerland.

Sebastian is on a baseline salary and then has bonuses for points, podiums, wins and championships.

Explains why he won't obey team orders, needs the money for the gas meter.

Lewis lives next door to Nico in Monaco apparently.

Michael Schumacher made more money than Alonso ever made at Ferrari.... He made something of like 35 to 40 million, of course, his net worth is around 500 million. I don't think Fernando will come close to that.

How about: I have heard that Fernando earns 200 million euro annually and Kimi earns 250 million annually by being a formula one driver that they are. Vettel earns 100.000,- in comparison, which makes him the best asset that a team can have.

200 million euros?

With that kind of money, he would be like Larry Elison.

I love how people complain someone is earning 'only' 3 million a year  .

I wish I 'only' earned that much.

Classy move to post people's salaries. It's none of our business.

Pity the poor Americans. Wherever they live or earn their money, the US still taxes them and requires a tax form from them every year. Those who've attempted to avoid paying have eventually come unstuck when their US passport ran out!

Read the article.

I did, you obviously didn't. The headline in the article is 'Alonso fourth highest paid sports person on the planet'.

They probably wouldn't even know themselves how much they earn each year. I know a couple of very rich people through work and they honestly have no idea, it's just become meaningless to them

The bold parts is what CB is trying to say.

To be fair, the yallaf1 article is incorrect.

Here is the original source.

3. Alonso
11. Hamilton
15. Schumacher

So as an investment Nico and Jenson should be sacked today, Kimi is 10 times better than Alonso.

They changed the headline. This it's why they said he was third and not fourth in the first please.

Excluding American athletes, like undefeated boxer Floyd ‘Money’

I have no idea how much Alonso, or any other driver earns. Frankly, I don't trust news reports on this issue - the only ones knowing what they make is the drivers themselves. Everything else is headlines contributing to sell papers.

Having said that, I have a lot respect for Alonso. He could have kept living in Switzerland without paying income tax. At a time when Spain is suffering its worst economic crisis in years, he made the decision to go back and pay a very healthy share of his salary in taxes to his country.

Good on him.

Looks to me like Alonso is 7th overall in the SI article.

I find it interesting that Rossi is no longer on the list at all. He used to be pretty high.
