The Lang Cooper is a race car , basically similar to the Shelby King Cobra mechanically but with a different body, oen designed by Pete Brock of Shelby American fame (designed the Cobra Daytona coupe). Craig Lang was a wealthy Shelby fan and racing a King Cobra when it was smashed and he had a new body designed by Brock. The car ran out of the Shelby pits at some races as the engine was the same as the racing Cobras.
The car was restored by John “Granny” Collins with his son Graham and Kiwi body craftsman Simon Leach. The Lang’s new owner, Claude Nahum of Switzerland, reportedly discovered the car in Pat Ryan’s collection in Alabama, where it had resided for several years after it had been found on a scrapheap in Florida by famed race photog’ Bill Warner."

Warner had strated a restoration but completed only teh cosmetics part so it went to the museum where Nahum discovered it and brought it back to the car’s original designer, Peter Brock, to ask if he’d restore the car back to it’s original configuration so it could be raced. I wonder if there's a more complete story of its discovery in the junkyard by Warner on any website or in a club magazine?

Tom Cotter`s excellent book "The Cobra in the barn" has a few pages about finding the Lang Cooper. The rest of the book is very good reading too.
Im sure one of the" Vintage Motorsport" issues has a piece written by Pete Brock about the Lang Cooper, can,t remember which one im afraid. Craig Lang was a great guy.

Joe Freitas, Corvette and Cobra racer from the early 60's was a good friend of Craig Lang. He may have more info on the history. He now lives in Gold Beach, Oregon. I will ask him and report back.

Here's a little bit of history on the Lang King Cobra. I had not heard the names of John and Graham Collins and Simon Leach though.
