I was hoping Michael Mann would make a deal like this one reported in 2011 in VARIETY:

Variety reports that Mann is close to signing a deal with Fox that will have him direct Go Like Hell, the story of how the rivalry between Ford and Ferrari resulted in the first American car winning The 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. The script will be based on the book by A.J. Baime and largely center on Henry Ford II, Lee Iacocca and Carroll Shelby. The film will center on the development of the Ford GT40, the car that won the legendary race. Brad Pitt's name is thrown into the mix as a possible lead, but nothing has been made official.

But unfortunately he has chosen Agincourt, a period piece in medieval England and also a film about cyber crime to be partially filmed in China with chinese actors.

Anybody know why the racing movie is stalled? (jetting?)
