Does Alonso not talk to Stella very much or do they just not broadcast it?
It strikes me that even after 3 years of Pirelli's Lewis seems totally oblivious to the long game and seems totally unable to intuitively make the tyres last without being given target lap times. "I can't drive any slower" then his engineer comes on to tell him his pace is actually good compared to his rivals. It also highlights how analytical Mercedes, Mclaren and Red Bull appear to be with the tyres compared to Lotus and Ferrari.
Obviously we only get a small number if radio transmissions so my impressions could be totally wrong.
On the world feed we're given plenty of Alonso/Stella traffic, but perhaps we get everything from them and less from the rest?
I think Hamilton is fine when it comes to doing just what's needed when we're talking tires; see Barcelona '12 and Canada '12, for examples showing patience and aggressiveness.
That he was told during Monaco, after the restart to think about his rears, was not really surprising. He was pissed and too keen to make up a place, hence spun a lot out of Loews and at the exit of Nouvelle. I don't think he didn't realize he was abusing the tires, but for a while he atleast wanted to give it a go, passing Webber.
