I have recently heard a story that a racing car was buried at Oulton Park , on the orders of the deceased drivers widow, after a fatal accident
suggestion is that it was buried somewhere near the entrance bridge, now known as Warwick Bridge, on the outside of the circuit, but within the circuit boundary fence
can anyone give me any information on this?

If it be true let's keep quiet about it, lest some opportunist ignores the widow's wishes and digs it up.

It put me in mind of the ridiculous claim made by the author of that never-published book about Dick Seaman that his Mercedes Benz W154/39 had been buried in the grounds of Pull Court on the orders of his mother.

Myth Alert!

I've heard that story over and over again, regarding a number of different cars and a million of different burial places. None of the stories turned out to be true, what a surprise! Can you really imagine something like that happening??????

Are you forgetting Babs, Michael? :p I think the MBM that Peter Monteverdi is said to have buried in concrete under his garage in the 60s is pretty much accepted as true too - although that only nearly killed him!

But overall, I'm inclined to agree!

Uh, my ignorance of straightaway "racing" shows again... But was it buried intentionally, or by accident?

Very much intentionally!

I seem to recall a story that Paul Hawkins T70 was buried at Oulton Park.

There was also the ex-Zborowski 1919 Indianapolis Ballot that Dick Howey crashed fatally at Boulogne in 1926 and which was then 'buried' at sea.

One that was buried in the West Midlands was Brabham BT30-2 though strictly speaking the chassis number is not confirmed. http://www.oldracing...s/brabham/bt30/ . Buried may of course be a euphemism for taken to the tip. :well:

Allegedly and I have no reason yet to disbelieve the story this MG 14/40 Mk IV Sport was dismantled ready for a ground up restoration prior to being preserved and buried beneath concrete.

While there was a rumour that this Ferrari 375MM had been buried in the ground when in fact if had only been entombed in a container.

Then there is the case of the McLaren M23 rumoured to be buried at Brands after it had been used for fire training did that one ever get settled ?

There is a circuit in the southern hermisphere where they racing fraternity ceremonially buries a racecar once a year as a ritual sacrifice to appease the gods or racing.
FIA has ruled that the cars need to have passed scrutineering first, of course

The locals pride themselve to pick significant and valuable cars out of respects to their gods.
Last year they buried a GTO and the year before a SSK....

:)

It should also be understood that it was intended that a number of young women, the number commensurate with the age of the car, should sacrifice their virginity in the back seat of the car prior to its entombment. This has proved unworkable due to a dearth of suitably qualified young women.
