Sydney Speed Shop did include John Cummins...

Wasn't Ian Hindmarsh also involved? If not, he had a business somewhere.

Race & Rally for helmets, overalls etc in Sydney.

Ken Nancarrow's Racegear in Melbourne

Don Hall's Speed Shop in Perth

Also in Perth were Mike Risebrow (sp?) and Don Reimann, but I don't know what their business names were offhand (Terry?)

Go Gear was/is the shop run by Dick Ward in Perth

If you want to include Boomerang Service Station, you'd have to mention Ken Webb's BP Castlecove Service Station, I'm sure Ken worked on other cars than the Bond Healey there.

Going back aways...

Doug Mason tuned cars at 509 New Sandgate Road, Clayfield (Brisbane)

The Saywell/Snow/Rex Marshall etc group started a workshop for the various speedy cars around in late pre-war Sydney...

Monza Service Centre (maybe not quite correct?)

Wasn't there a Doug Whiteford Motors in Melbourne where Whiteford and Jim Gullan worked on race cars too?

Hi Guys;
Another one that comes to mind is Raceway Speed Equipment which used to be in North Narrabeen in Sydney.
The owner of the business was Bob Caddy.
A very good hillclimber.
From memory he built a car called the Bobbin.
I think Holden powered.
Cheers.
Roger.

I thought that this thread started as COMPANIES involved in tuning for speed, rather than individual 'speed shops'!
For me it's Sonic = extractors; Lynx = manifolds & 'ram-flow' air filters; and Waggott = cams.
Combined made a very big difference to my first car (Hillman Hunter :-()

You seem to be a little confused Geoff? some of those companies were known for far more than just air filters and cams
