Hoping for Kimi to finish on the podium at least, if he keeps up this consistency then this WDC is his.

Oh my. I think we are going to have a spectacle today. Anybody from the top 6 can win it. Supposing that Mercedes has a lot of degredation they will form a Trulli-train until the first pits come up. Then we'll see who has the best strategy from the rest of the pack. It'll be also interesting to follow what Massa and Grosjean can do.

The first pit is absolutely crucial. If you get stuck behind a driver who starts with the harder tyre, you are going to have a bad time. Long first stint could be benefitial even if you are running a two-stopper.

Hoping for a Mark Monaco Special Super Start, a neat little nip up the inside of Vettel (or ballsy daring breathtaking move around the outside, I don't mind) just to really annoy him, and then Mark somehow undercuts the two Mercedes (yeah right with an RBR strategy) and charges off into the distance!

You can overtake at Monaco, but are these tyres going to allow a bit of harassing of the car infront, and when you stick it up the inside, you need a driver that isn't going to turn in.

Big pressure on Rosberg at the start, he gets a bad start and his good work yesterday will be undone.

Are you going to keep repeating this? Nobody associates Webber with a super-start habit. I haven't seen a driver who gets bogged down at the start in modern F1 time and again like Webber. And then I see posts like this, that too with desperate repitition.

I'm hoping to see di Resta come through into the points as he has top 10 pace. They got it badly wrong in Q1 by not changing to another set of inters.

The problem now is that if Mercedes is competitive in the race and actually wins it...

Don't even know how to finish that sentence.

I don't think Alonso can as Monaco is difficult to overtake. At best it can a podium he achieves?

I have a feeling Mercedes has got on top of their tyre problems. I hear their latest simulator is really top of the line, almost like running at a real track!

Alonso has a good chance to win if he overtakes Kimi at the start. Merc/Vettel will pull a gap for the first 5-6 laps, then their tires are gone and others catch up. Mercs & Vettel will make 2-stops but have problems using their fresh tires because of traffic.

Same goes for Kimi if he keeps Alonso behind.

Gut feeling is Vettel will win, and at least 1 of the top 6 will retire on lap 1

Actually it seems their latest race simulation was done in Barcelona last week. Its a lot like running a real track.

Yeah I have a similar feeling.

Nico Rosberg (1st, Q3 - 1m 13.876s):
“I have to say thank you to everybody at the team for all of their hard work in improving our car and our performance so much since last year. Having said that, we know that race pace has been our weakness. We've learnt a lot since the last race, and this track should suit us, but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out if this will be enough.”

I wonder what he means with that.

Was the track declared dry for Q3 and so they have to start with their Q3 tyres ?
Or it still was wet and they can choose between Soft and Supersoft ?

Thanks.

Pretty ballsy of Mercedes to introduce a new suspension at Monaco. Monaco being what it is they surely would have preferred to test it for three days at a normal circuit first.

I don't remember hearing on commentary or reading that it was declared dry.

But I might be wrong.

I don't think it was declared wet at any point, even though they were running on intermediates, they were allowed to use DRS all the time.

It will only be a procession until the Mercs pit, after that they will tumble down the order. Also its of no interest for the Mercs too eek out the first stint and make it last as long as possible because no matter how bad their tyres are their rivals behind will always have slightly better tyres and will pump in the necessary faster laps before pitting and they should come out infront of the Mercs. They only way a Merc could win is they played rear gunner, but that won't happen today because Rosberg and Hamilton won't play the team game and safety car could hinder it too.

The way qualifying turned out makes it possible the race will be be slightly more interesting than the regular Grand Prix' in Monaco.

I'll be especially interested in seeing how Massa does from the back. Helped by circumstances and odd strategies there have been a few interesting comeback races at Monaco, as unlikely as it seems, and here's hoping Massa can at least score some points. Alonso on the podium would be great. :)

I have heard a rumour from a very good source close to Mercedes that the Mercs will be splitting strategy, with Rosberg 1-stopping and Hamilton 2-stopping.

This year for Lotus is the same be it warm or cold their pace is good. Though I agree about Merc, but also Ferrari will profit with warm weather.

At the rist of embarrasment, that was Daft Punk, or alteast thier head gear, which I never noticed before but works quite well for a pit stop...

I wonder if Mercedes will do a Villeneuve of Suzuka in 1997. Hold the pack up and cause as much chaos behind as possible whilst saving their own skin.

Lol

Keke was forced to come watch the race as he has officially retired from any activity from f1 and he didn't to come and watch the race but some convinced him to come.
