The Haynes Manual for the McLaren M23 mentions the rear suspension being changed from the initial arrangement with triangular lower wishbones and a top crossmember fabricated from round tube to one with parallel links below and a fabricated beam crossmember. Photos of the upper part of the new arrangement are common enough but does anyone have any of the lower portion and in particular how it is fixed to the gearbox?
Any help would be appreciated...
David
Not sure about McLaren but most teams used a flat plate ("link anchor plate") underneath the gearbox that the links connect to.
The Hewland gearbox has threaded holes on the underside for such things - 4 holes on most boxes, 2 or 6 on others.

Hello. I found only this picture

wrong setup unfortunately - that's the reversed rear wishbone used in one form or another through most of the M23's life.

Yes that is a sketch the parallel link setup - the image is the same as, and from the same article as the one Nigel posted above.
Anyone got a picture ?

Many thanks, exactly what I was after.
A photo would be nice (but I suspect it would be a touch murky, what with everything painted black, coated in oil, on the underside in the shade and out in the weather of a typical English day).
Hence I am grateful to Mr Piola for his skill and clarity and to you both for posting the drawings.
Regards,
David
