Nope, he would've come out around the Hulk, Alo, RAi, Web train if they pitted him on the right lap just when they started to pit.

But that doesn't matter anyway, the setup was just way off in S1.

And he would be behind Hulk not being able to overtake him. His race would finish there.

Where did Rosberg destroy his wing?

People Hamilton was faster in first two stints but the consquence is that he destroyed his tyres. Rosberg was thinking smarter.

Maybe Lewis pushed harder, but they could have pitted him and he would have retained his 10+ second lead over Rosberg.

Again, by pitting early he would have to pit one more time than Rosberg and lose 22+ seconds.

Still, Hamilton should be given point for this race.

Lewis beats Nico. Mercedes flunk basic race strategy, and calling of strategy during race.

Hamilton drove a fairly horrible race and was extremely lucky that Nico's wing failure and the safety cars saved him from a drubbing. Sorry to his fans but that is the long and short of it.

Rosberg would not have done a 2-stopper. You are crazy.

I think Rosberg is the team leader at Mercedes ... just a theory i am starting to develop but seeing he pretty much gets away with "murder"

Everyone pretty much switched to a 3-stopper and he had a 12 second gap to Nico and a c. 20 second gap to the Hulkenberg group - at that time, and barring any SC, he had 3rd place firmly locked up.

Even with people 2-stopping, they would have hit the cliff at the end without SC.

I'm sure that Hamilton would do 3 stops and still be marginal.

Nico's race consisted of cruising and tyre conservation.  Lewis' defence again Romain was poor, left the door open in comparison to Romain who shut it down completely moments later.  He did show some brilliant aggression against Fernando that I haven't seen in a few years, as he has been too measured in recent time Hungary against Mark withstanding.  I feel that Lewis' driving style which involves taking an early apex often hinders his ability to pass cars.

Maybe, but that's better than trying to push for two and still do three in the end, like they would have ended up doing.

Rosberg has the same bad luck of Michael at Mercedes this year. He missed a podium at Singapore due a bad strategy and now missed another one due a wing failure.

It's not better as Rosberg overtaking Hamilton was shown. There was a big possibility that Lewis would destroy his tyres again and be slower 3-4 seconds at the end of the race.

Lewis started hitting the cliff after 15-16 laps on the tyres (lap 23-24), therefore doing 30 laps on 2 sets of mediums would have brought him right to the finish line (and that's without taking into account lighter fuel load).

So no.

Well he kept them in quite good shape for the last stint being 0,5 behind the Hulk all the time, so no, I don't think so...

No need for this lowish posts. I agree Lewis wins this one.

Yes you are very objective and not acknowlodging Rosberg's front wing problem.

idk about other fans but I call a draw when the drivers are close to each other and not much seperating regardless of which drivers in front. i.e Spa, Singapore and Korea

Yes they were in good shape because he was driving behind Hulk with a 2 second slower pace that was possible.

The wing was on the floor, because he damaged it even more overtaking Lewis. The whole nose was loose. It was very dangerous he stayed on the racing line

Rosberg riseked aDNF for both cars if the FW came down. Dangerous & stupid  to stay on the racing line from NR

Nico is better, was better and will be better, lets just give the win to him, why even call a draw, he was so fast that you could literaly see spaprkles on his car and was almost invisible the whole race, that's called speed!

The way Hamilton drove with bridgestone and the way he drives now...he is doing his best now in this era but no matter how we spin it he is harder on the tyres than Rosberg or Button.

But the stupidity of it is that both former Mclaren and Mercedes want him to do what they simulator says is better to do and not what is better to do when s happens in the race, those teams just don't know how to react.

I couldn't believe what i was seeing, was Mclaren-Button trauma all over again.

I will wait for tomorrow to give some tips about Hamilton driving,i know i am a expert armchair but he is doing somethings "wrong"...he got too passive after 2011,he got the consistency of points he wanted but is losing some positions being too fair or scared of possible future crash.

I will explain my opinion of it later with data.

Lewis refuses to be a politician with his rather retarded self-professed preference for equality. Really drives me up the wall!!  Somebody should shake some sense into his head ... he needs to be a better politician. He was screwed by Jenson at McLaren because of his political weaknesses and looks like Nico is going to do the same at Mercedes. He should have negotiated for No.1 status when he changed teams.

Indeed, it wasn't a great race.  But while we are feeling sorry for Nico, I'll feel sorry for LH too (yeah, I know he could have nursed his tyres better, but perhaps Nico nerfed somebody to bring on such an unusual failure) in that his team left him hanging out to dry with their rigid strategy.  And I don't think we can blame either driver for S1 as both were slower there than the cars they were fighting indficating an obvious setup issue.  No fun being that slow in a double DRS zone on race day I suspect- an that's how it played out.

LH did a normal race, just delivering what the car was capable of. Nothing splendid, but better than Rosberg. Rosberg had the bad luck of wing failure but Lewis also was badly compromised by the team's wrong strategy. Another possibility of tyre failure from Lewis? He ran more laps in his final stint without suffering from the same problem. How ridiculous.

Rosberg took care very well of his tyres and was then screwed by the FW issue.

Merc put Hamilton on a terrible strategy.

Not sure how to rate it - it's pace vs. tyre management. In any case, Merc needs to improve if they want to challenge for WDC next year.

There's no **** up. He would lose the same amount through one more pitstop + making his way while battling.

How often has it made a difference?  He held on to his tyres better than Nico in Bahrain and Canada, for example.  JB had numerous issues with tyres during his time as teammate with LH. I suppose that doesn't fit the narrative of Nico as the 'thinking' driver and Hamilton as the 'hard charger', and the limited view that tyre management solely involves tyre preservation prevails above all else.

As for the strategy..... it was either a case of race them, or nurse them.  Which brought us to both cars sharing the same space of tarmac many laps later.

IMHO, the problem was battling GRO for a few laps after the first stop, that seemed to really hurt the tyres.

Mercedes should have let Lewis overtake Nico and pit ahead of him. In this scenario Nico would only have been held up by no more than 2.5 seconds, and possibly none since Lewis would have probably been in the box several seconds before Nico coming in. The option Mercedes chose was to hold Lewis for a whole lap in favor of Nico despite the fact that he had been requesting to come in for several laps. It is clear Nico is not a team player and Mercedes like McLaren are not listening to their faster driver. 2014 will be very much like 2011 for Lewis Hamilton, is my prediction at the moment.

Mercedes Twitter said 2nd set of mediums was much better than the 1st. Maybe wrong tyre pressure?
