Did? Did Fox just cutaway as Kyle was lapping the 10 car?

When they cover the empty grandstand with those sponsor tarps, I wonder if the ad value of the tarp on TV is worth more than what you can sell the tickets for in that acreage.

But if no one is buying the tickets is some value better than no value?

It probably is, actually. If there's a banner covering 20 seats then maybe what Napa or FedEx paid for that isn't worth as much as 20 people who bought tickets, food, drinks, merch etc. But if you sold a giant space along the back stretch for Budweiser to put their logo there for 50 grand then it might be better business than to have actually sold those seats. Of course, if those tickets aren't sold anyway than it's obviously better value for ad tarps.

Yeah ads is better than empty seats, but I wonder at what point it tips over and they think "hmm, we dont need to sell tickets we need to sell ad space".

The tarps are a lot easier to read than the normal wall-ads.

Speaking of ads there are some serious opportunities Nascar is missing this year. If I was in charge I'd have a little ticker under the main one called Pony Watch and it would keep you informed for the entire race where Danica is. It would be sponsored by local horse stables close to whatever track we happened to be at and it would sparkle every time she got passed.

Stewart-Haas is sponsored by Mobil 1 and their logo is that Pegasus horse thingy. I'm not sure they use it anymore though. But it could like, rear up or flap its wings or something.

I missed something. On lap 200 or so, Montoya was 8th and challenging MMartin for 7th. Then I got up to brew coffee and once I got it started I came back and he was 10th. Anyone catch what happened?

I don't think it's designed to be, but this GEICO commercial where the Pillsbury Dough Boy gets felt up by the TSA is pretty subversive...

Well... for Bernie it happened somewhere around 20 years ago. And then you get empty Tilkedromes that turn a lot of money in ads and TV rights but no cash for the ticket sellers.
Not that anyone cares....

They didn't change the engine specs this right? This isn't even the first year of fuel injection. But these Toyotas reminid me of the first-generation CART turbo furnaces.

Getting yourself wrecked over 26th place? Ha, how embarrassing for Newman.

I hope Juan keeps it together. Someone tell his spotter that if he doesn't wreck himself or someone else a Mexican dinner is on me.

You can thank Kurt Busch for making sure he's still in the running for that free dinner.

What's his favorite, King Taco?

Gibbs sure can build a motor.

JGR doesn't build their own engines anymore, they started getting them from TRD this year, not sure that was such a good idea.

Oh damn he only took 2 tires? Seemed like he was in the pit stall a bit longer.

Terrible restart for Monty, just gave the lead up without a fight.

Oh wait nevermind, looks like Johnson is in violation of the restart.

I don't know where he came from but go Tony! However I have mixed feelings, Tony needs a win for the chase but I'd like to see JPM win an oval.

Agreed.
I enjoyed seeing Smoke hunting down the leader, but of all the times Montoya has to be the leader! Aargh.
Really thought he had it.

Great finish.
Montoya pits made a great call changing two left tires in the penultimate yellow flag.

 JJ forgot that Montoya is a NOB on restarts in the lead.

 Gentleman overtake of Smoke over Montoya.

Kurt Bush unlucky.
Hamlim unlucky.
