Beware of this Man

Just a heads up that after he has served his sentence he will be 'at large' once again.

"Racing driver gone bad" is, I think, the thrust of this thread...

A little closer to home, he posted here for a while (as Silkolene) mainly trying to interest people in his proposed new racing series, which I don't think ever got anywhere. Certainly the website he kept quoting seems to be defunct. He took part last year in our club's Pegasus Sprint at Castle Combe - presumably we don't need to worry about sending him regs for this year's event.

is there a connection with the black modsports Turner which has been advertised for ages, and the price of which indicates that gold ingots have been utelised as balast? I seem to recall a link.

Like this one, for example?

This thread will give you the flavour of the man, as seen on an otherwise excellent Forum!

An obvious sock-puppet from his second post! I hadn't followed the thread, having no particular interest in Turners, fun though they look, but the first three words which occurred to me were:

Narcissistic. Personality. Disorder.

Google it; it's scarily common.

I believe that he was outed by a TV programme some years back for dodgy used car dealing (and may have spent some time at Her Majesty's Pleasure for it). He had an ex-BTCC Cavalier at one time which he drove on the road. Way back, I think he had a TR7 V8 bearing the risible slogan '300bhp' on the back. Recently, I thought he had been claiming to be Lord Fulke-Greville (after acquiring a Lordship of the Manor of some sort). Then there was some sort of Help for Heroes link involving the Turner which was reported to be a scam.

Probably not the most upstanding of citizens.

He has sold some dubious cars and I wanted to bring his latest exploits to this forum as a warning to avoid him at all costs.

and also car parts that were not what they were claimed (and priced) to be. Google his name and, as the thread title says, beware!

Apart from anything else, Fulke-Greville is clearly delusional, but it always puzzles me why fairly rational human beings commit crimes like this. Absolutely zero possibility of getting away with it long-term, they must surely know that an eventual custodial sentence is almost inevitable, so why do they do it?

True, but given he has at least one criminal conviction for a crime of dishonesty, none of this would lower his reputation any further. Hence it wouldn't be held to be defamatory.

I dunno, I wouldn't want to test things like 'clearly delusional' though I'm not singling out that specific post.

In Italy it would be considered defamation, under Article 595 of Penal Code.

Basically in our happy country you cannot call a thief even a convicted thief. You may say (calmly and serenely, as the word of law goes) that he's been jailed for theft, but that doesn't allow you to call him a thief...

So Paolo, we can proudly say we have had a PM puttaniere (whoremonger), but can't say he is a crook.

I do not consider "whoremonger" as an insult, more as a description of one's clever approach to life.

Perhaps Silkolene (the company) will intervene first and take action against Silkolene (the alleged racing driver) for trademark infringement....

Wouldn't be easy, with his form, he'll slip through their fingers.

Allegedly...

I remember the newspaper article re Skeaping from the mid-70s, when I'd be about 11-12. I was vaguely aware of him from my reading MN at that time, he did some 2-litre G6 around that time I recall. I had no idea what a 'Paedo' was back then, it was a completely new word to me. I recall the article said something about him using his racing exploits to befriend youngsters/

It seems, Rupert, that you have been careful to avoid compromising anyone...

These people really deserve everything they get from the courts. Good to see that at least one pair didn't get away.

That just makes me sick. As a road race kid my entire childhood, I made lots of driver friends and the very idea of this makes me see red.

Mostly on topic, my hero since 1968 waited until 2006 to strike us with a "can't lose" stock after we had a massive medical catastrophe. It turned out to be a complete scam that he profited from, so I know how deeply our hero passions can be. Anyone taking advantage of our sport's passion has no soul.

There's a bit of that kind of 'scamming' has gone on among top drivers over the years...

One former driver I know lost, in conjunction with his family, a six-figure sum to another driver's business which couldn't go wrong.
