Hell's bells.....Now I see why he's a professional racing driver - and I'm an accountant....

The extreme nature of this run & not wearing a Hans device tells me this racing driver is not so "professional"

Please explain.

What's to explain Pete? Of course in some circumstances such as a cruise the risk is possibly less, but he looked like he wasn't to me!

Glad someone else had to ask....I was certainly struggling to find any logic in that comment at all.

Chap who knows what he's doing gives the paying public what they want to see. Whatever next?

Presumably you would rather see him ascending the hill at 30 mph performing numerous contrived burnouts, Goodwood FOS style?

As for the laughably "nanny state" comment about the HANS device, it's his neck so what's the problem?

I noticed that the cockpit was not stuffed full of regulation fire-proofed cotton wool either.

That's quite a rebuke but I guess my comment has been misunderstood. This driver for some years now, will have been wearing Hans in events where the use is mandated, but in a non regulated event he chose to go without.

Maybe he had done a risk assessment.

Perhaps it would make sense if we all steer clear of posting links to modern cars on the Nostalgia Forum, apart from Simon's F1 thread?

Could someone tell me what this car is, please?

This one I do know- big thanks to Kevin for showing us Tom's last project... and serious respect to him for keeping it on the island; big car, big power, narrow track!

Built by Bristol Engineering for Nick Upton out of the wreck of an Aceca that a French guy crashed 3 days after it was delivered new!

Earlier in this thread Tim Murray made mention of a Cooper at this event. I had a look at the website and saw it listed as the Cooper prototype.

So does any of the ace photographers that attended Cholmondeley have any Cooper photos they could share please?

Thanks in advance.

Stephen

I'm definitely no ace photographer, but I'll set the ball rolling:

Owned and driven by Peter Harvey. He has appeared at the last couple of CPoPs

Brilliant Tim & Alan R. Much appreciated for adding these great photos.

Thanks also to Alan Cox for the owner/driver details. There was a feature in the Mini Cooper Register magazine about 3 years ago. Apparently some debate on whether it is T2 (JNC) or T3 (Brandon).

I think it was described as ex-Brandon by the learned commentators :)

According to the owner it is the Brandon car.

Thanks for the clarification of it being the Brandon Cooper, Alan & Steve.

According to the MCR feature Peter Harvey has owned it for 40 years now. Also, like so many 500s it's had a varied life with engines, etc.
