No. Coverage was good, but a lot of the commercial breaks, even with the side by side coverage, had a lot of actions- Alonzo passed Hamilton on a commercial, Webber damaged his wing on a break, etc. At least the weather was good. I think it was a great race- except that Vettel was on another planet....Way, way, way too many ads. As a result we missed some comments on key pit stops!

Sounds like you recorded the NBC Sports re-showing of the race.My dvr didnt record what it was supposed to? Also the prerace show had a ticker at the bottom of the screen displaying the results of the race? How is this even possible? (Im in the states)
The live broadcast was on the main NBC channel this weekend.

Im curious what happened with Alonso's potential yellow flag infringement. It was a rare moment of valuable contribution by Matchett.

You didn't miss anything. They had side-by-side during the breaks and whatever wasn't shown on the primary screen was replayed by them when they came back.

It wasn't actually a yellow, it was a debris on track caution (aka red stripped yellow flag) similar to the one SKY misunderstood in Brazil last year

Not to worry, it is rebroadcast like 7 times on NBC Sports Network. But you have to check your listings each week to ensure you are taping the right channel for the actual race. Sometimes it is on NBCSportsNetwork channel (usually) and sometimes on regular NBC main network television.

Not even the courtesy to set up the race weekend. Tell us about incidents during the practice/qualifying, or just give us the general info on what F1 is (for those people who stumbled on it mid-day Sunday).

They did the same thing with the FOX shows on primetime, too. SpeedTV would have like a half-hour pre-race show and then the FOX broadcast would start pretty much with the lights going out.Only issue I had was that they went the route of ESPN in their IndyCar coverage where they start the program and it's, "This is F1 racing at Montreal on NBC! We are on the grid and the lights are out!"

NBC sports had a pre-race show on, so its pretty much the same.
The only thing NBC are doing better is the side-by-side stuff. But otherwise, they dont broadcast all the sessions like they said they were going to in the beginning, and they dont even stream FP1 or FP3 online.
It'll do, but I cant really say I'm super happy with it or anything.

Since tennis ended early, NBC actually started broadcasting the NBC Sports pre-race with about 10 minutes to go. At least on my affiliate.
Still just not a smart way to go. Especially when they allowed for a 45 minute post-race show after the race.
I decided to cut back on having HD channels as well, and had a formatting issue similar to what they had at the Australian GP. Same with the Monaco GP as well (seems to be an NBC only issue), as the other races on NBCSN were fine.
Remember people, the Brit GP is only CNBC, not NBC or NBCSN.

Yea, I got rid of my digital box since I'm moving soon and it was annoying to have so much cut off on the sides.Still just not a smart way to go. Especially when they allowed for a 45 minute post-race show after the race.

The German GP as well. Not sure why though. That time on NBCSN on a Sunday is still infomercials before they start the hunting/fishing shows.

I'm on the left coast and this week was one of the few races I see live. I started at 10.30am watching the pre race on NBC Sports and a few minutes before 11 I switched to NBC thus giving me a seamless coverage from pre race to race.

I'll take side by side over Fox's speed channel breaks every 2 minutes when they show a replay of a pass then have to show a replay of a pass cuz they were busy showing a replay.
Sup dawg. I heard you like replays...

In the canada race 36% of the footage was full screen replays, replays I noticed tend to be from all angles in slowmo lasting at least 2 minutes.
Do these replays get shown when ads are shown on NBC etc?

I thought the coverage was fine. I have watched commercials on U.S. tv since I have watched tv so I am used to them. There's going to be commercials and you know that so why get so upset.
Pretty much this... we dont pay 250$ a month so of course the money comes from somewhere

The NBC commentators are amazing. Better than Skysports screaming most of the time. But most of us enjoy watching the races on our televisions or the streams we encounter aren't exactly the quality of SD that we can get through our cable companies...

I feel Hobbs has gotten worse over the years. Not sure if he is getting senile or something, but he seemed more knowledgeable back in 1990-1991.

Exactly, this is big improvement over what went before...
I dont understand why the US doesnt just take Sky's feed... it would be cheaper - and better

No, NBC is pretty bad these days. Diffey is a carnival barker, Hobbs sounds like he's on some substance, and Matchett has his nervous tics of giving us the full name of every team and car and their individual chassis number if he has it to hand. Though occasionally he picks up an interesting detail.
Thinking a second time, you may be right Stonedfeld. But call me an optimist but we could do quite worse; compared to what could have happened when NBC took over.

Because its the USA. We have to do everything ourselves. Besides if NBC is paying the money, I guess they want to put their own brand on it.

With mostly foreign presenters with thick accents .... I know its not realistic for NBC to take the Sky feed - but even in the States I still prefer to watch the Sky coverage on a dodgy stream. Hobbs, Machett etc annoy me no end...
That said the split screen during most of the adverts alone make NBC a 100% improvement over SPEED.

NBCSN has issued it's survey on Formula One.
Sign up and tell 'em what you think, what you'd like to see/ not see etc.

Too many ads, onscreen graphics covering things up, but most of all... rehash "features" going away from action on screen, and the pointless "mini-rock video" collages when coming back from a commercial. Again, away from the action.
If one didn't know what car racing was (I'm begining to wonder myself?) it might be difficult to discern what the main content was supposed to be.
I'll attempt to stop at this juncture. No wait... let's have the VO so loud/ducked that sometimes you don't even hear the cars at all? Grrrr...
/ Off to do the survey..

My local NBC affiliate pre-empted Monaco's coverage (which was on NBC, not NBCSN) for its local Sunday morning news. I called to complain and, of course, no one called back. I don't get NBCSN. I need to reduce what I spend on Dish, not pay more, so I won't be seeing F1 regularly anytime soon.

It's not much different than what we saw with SPEED. Never was a big fan of Bob Varsha, so I didn't miss him too much. But Leigh Diffey, well, he could be suited for announcing NASCAR rather than F1. Was always a calming feel to the announcing. Which is good when you have to wake up earlier than normal to catch the race.

Leigh Diffey calming?? That guy comes out of his skin at most races.Screaming at times. Not to say he's not good. I prefer Varsha though. Old school.

Was referring more about the old SpeedTV people. Yeah, when Diffey turns his mic on, it's like a yipping little dog needing to go outside. Then again, when he drones on, it blends into white noise. Not much different than the sound of the cars.
