And did things more exciting than rallying. But he certainly made a good job of hustling the 220SEs around the twisty roads of the rally courses too.

More very sad news. For someone whose top level rallying career didn't start until he was in his late thirties, his achievements are remarkable. IMHO perhaps his greatest achievement was right at the end of his career, when he finished second in blizzard conditions in the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally in, of all things, a Porsche 904.
Taken at the top of the Turini last night of the rally 1965. Phenomenal performance. Quiet and unassuming man but very impressive.

Fifty years ago he became the first driver to win the Acropolis Rally twice (1962 in a 220 and 1963 in a 300).
He is pictured below in 1963, in the Parnitha hillclimb which was part of the rally.
May he rest in peace.
