Jan McLaren with some of the McLaren's that came to Monterey
The Legends of Motorsport under the santioning body of the HMSA held an event at Monterey on the June 15-16 weekend.

Cris Vandagriff and his HMSA orginization did a great job of making sure all involved had a great time.

Coming to honor her brothers cars was Jan McLaren and Howden Ganley of the original McLaren crew and Alex Greaves. Many of Bruce's friends were at the event.

So Ron Dennis has not got them all stuffed away in a warehouse after all ;)

Thanks for sharing Jerry, wonder if there are any similar gatherings planned in the UK ?

Unfortunately I was not able to attend but considering the cars that came I was quite disappointed in the turn out. Even in the bay area there are more McLarens out ther let alone from around the country. Granted this was a vintage tribute but not at the Historics which would have brought out the best of the best and then some. To be honest the Monterey Historics should have had them a secondary tribute this year and you would have seen a far better turn out of cars. This was a real pathetic turn out for a tribute to a great car company I'm almost glad i didn't go I would have felt I wasted my money which is at a premium right now so have a bit of bias but I see more Mclarens at other races so feel people didn't go the extra mile for this event but if it was at the Historics there would be a better field of cars.

Rick Knoop and Jan McLaren
Rick Knoop brought out the just restored Bill Cuddy McLaren 8F. He had engine issues this weekend. It was the first time in 28 years that Rick had driven a McLaren. He and his late father shared a M-20 in the past.

Rick had a great time at the event and used it as a shake down run.

At Sonoma in 2011, McLaren was featured. I believe they had seventeen McLarens at that event. So this Laguna Seca tribute must have had pretty close to that number ?

Vince: I believe the number of McLaren's was 11. I wasn't at this event. Everyone who was has asked me to show it to the Forum members.

In the backgroung is Chris Hines of Arrowlane Restoration who brought Edie's McLaren Mk 1 and Bob Hardison's McLaren Mk 2 to the event
Edie Arrowsmith was unable to attend the event and Mark Leonard drove her car.

This meeting was an open date for the track. The event had no sponsorship and everyone who attended enjoyed themselves. They have asked me to post these photos showing the event.

Jan McLaren going over the Bruce McLaren Trust registry details with an owner at this event.

Bruce McLaren was a special man, and his sister continues to make special efforts to preserve all that he, his team, and his company achieved.

Maybe a sort of parade in town with some of their cars, old and new.

What a fine site that would make

Does anybody know whether is there anything planned here in Woking for the anniversary? Maybe a sort of parade in town with some of their cars, old and new. Their website doesn't say.

Perhaps The Jam could reform and do a gig to accompany the Mclarens...
