That would not really make any sense. Conor Daly or James Calado, okay, but Rossiter???

Sure it would. Rossiter is their sim driver and they ran him in testing previously. Running a rookie like Daly would be fairly pointless. Calado would be better, but not by much. Rossiter is the best choice of that three.

Daly and Calado are both drivers who have perhaps a future in F1 and it is the Force India philosophy to test such drivers (see Hülkenberg, Bianchi, Di Resta), but Rossiter hasn't really a future in F1 - that's the suprising point for me. So why Rossiter?

Because they're trying to improve their car, not auditioning drivers for the future.

Really? While Calado is in GP2, his form from 2012 has dropped, and his lone season in GP3 while scored him a runner-up in the championship, wasn't all that impressive. Daly might be younger and in him 3rd year of GP3 (and a bit of national pride), but at this point in the season looks stronger. For the Young Driver's Test these guys would probably be better choices though. But I agree, Rossiter is a better choice. Has more laps in an F1 car (was on of the Honda development drivers back in the day) than the other two in question, and that experience, along with the before mentioned simulation work gives him the upper edge.

right choice...one who does the simulator job is best fitted to test at this point.....

to judge potential future race driver, there is young driver test....

Soooo... What does that say about Sutil?

It could just be a correlation test between the sim and track. I think FI would be very happy with Sutil.

Is Sutil not allowed in the sim then?

Too much glass around, so no.

Sutil was the odd man out. He is also technically the number two driver, along with his comparative experience to di Resta, on top of being half the points as his teammate, it was a judgement move.

Talk about an expensive way to test a posh computer game!

I am surprised they have kicked out Sutil, would have thought DiResta knew Silverstone well enough to give up his drive. However, the quote on Autosport says only if dry weather so I imagine we won't see him out.

I seem to recall he has only raced there about 3-4 times as he did very little racing in the UK early in his career.

Plus it's Di Resta's home GP, would be kind of a jerk move to have him sit out.

Rossiter + diResta would be a very strong driver pair.

Sahara Force India ‏@clubforce 7m
The wet track means that, unfortunately, James Rossiter won't get the previously announced FP1 run. His work was dependent on dry conditions

Sahara Force India ‏@clubforce 6m
The team will evaluate other future opportunities for James to drive the VJM06, in conditions that will be more representative for the sim.

I don't think he still qualifies as a "young dude". He'll be 30 in two months.
