Why can't these people check things? The British Grand Prix is almost unique in the Formula One Calendar, as it is one of only three countries to have hosted a round of every World Championship since its start in 1950, alongside Italy and Monaco.

I missed out on an Autocar picture from Mallory Park posted on eBay recently. How do I get access to their picture archive (and I am assuming that they must have one)? Does anybody know?

This will enable you to open it for another couple of months. You can also do this by sending a question to the selling member during the auction period, that saves the details in your eBay account.
Screen prints are an easy way to save such things.

If you want to retain an eBay item past the closing date, you need to save the item number...

Thanks Ray - realise all that.
I meant how do I get access to the Autocar archive?

Well, as it's part of the LAT archive you could try the LAT site - but they only make a very small proportion of it public at any one time and seem to have a rolling replacement policy, since some pictures I've seen there in the past aren't there any more. Although to be fair they might have been violating someone else's copyright: some Robert Fellowes pics have disappeared for example. Thanks Ray - realise all that.

Yes, indeed, Alan. The second one, taken on the Kirkby Straight.

The caption was there for Image 16 all along, I saw it this afternoon. I presume someone made - horror of horrors - a mistake.
Fortunately no-one ever does that on TNF.

Indeed, but possibly a forgivable minor error, along with these two:I'm slightly surprised that nobody has mentioned the miscaptioning of picture 5. It's a Lotus 24 at the Aintree 200.
‘And 22 years later [than 1926], the race was held at Silverstone for the first time in its old and very fast layout.’ The 1948 race was held on the much tighter circuit using the inner runways.
Photo 18: ‘Mansell leads out of Paddock ...’. Technically yes, he is the leading car in the photo, but in reality he was struggling among the backmarkers following his broken driveshaft at the first start of the 1986 GP.

I didn't realise there were other photos nor that they were with captions - it just seemed to be an article with a big heading photo hilariously mis-captioned.I'm slightly surprised that nobody has mentioned the miscaptioning of picture 5. It's a Lotus 24 at the Aintree 200.
As is well-known The Autocar isn't what it was!

Another minor pedant point is that Mansell won 5 GPs on "home soil" rather than 4, although I guess that can be outpedanted by pointing out that the article is just referring to the British Grand Prix.

Gosh those poor horses must have had a heck of a time running round that track...

Much as it pains me, I have to admit you're right (and the corollary...)I don't object to 'almost unique' on a technical basis.
2nd place is a lot closer to almost winning than 22nd.
As I've been reminded, you can't say something's "very unique", which is why I went off half-cocked. "Almost unique" is OK"

These things are forgivable but they are not minor. We all make mistakes but if a caption, or any other statement is incorrect, we should point it out.Indeed, but possibly a forgivable minor error, along with these two:
