For precedent. Webber and one other driver (Perez, I think) were given reprimands for this in FP1 Canada. May have been double waved yellows, too. Can't remember. Hamilton though got a 3-place grid drop India 2011 for same offence. And of course this is only practice. It's up in the air.

If proven it probably WON'T be a reprimand.
Ignoring yellow flag is a BIG no-no in F1, a time penalty is usually given.
Let's wait and see the outcome by the Stewards.
It would be a shame as Nico drove well and took advantage of other drivers mis-fortunes.

If he is found guilty, will the FIA have the backbone to enforce their own rules, even if it completely undermines the pomp of the podium ceremony? Unless it serves their own agenda (aka Spa '08), I doubt it.

Obviously it was before the last SC bunched up the field again, so no winning advantage will have been exploited. Reprimand of 3 place grid drop in Germany. Nothing more.

"Appearing to not slow for yellow flags in turns 3 and 5 at 14:06"
Anyone remember when that was?

Let's be serious, after all the tyre incidents today making the sport look like a comedy club, you think the FIA will want to cause more drama by taking away Rosberg's win? This investigation is merely a formality, probably someone reported him for being fast under yellows, so they'll look into it because it's their job.

Ignoring yellow flags, especially if there are marshals on track, should be severely punished if Rosberg did do it.

If Rosberg's telemetry shows he still backed off then it'll be a reprimand at worst. If he didn't then he might be in a bit more trouble. Sometimes I think yellow flag infractions are perceived by some as more minor than they really are, but I have to admit I'm not overly keen to see a changed result.

Maximum penalty grid drop for Germany if guilty.

Winning advantage has nothing to do with it. It's about putting people in danger, that's what the yellow flags are there to prevent.

5s penalty would be best for Vettel.

Plenty of stuff has gone unpunished recently.

Could this be the reason he ended up in front of kimi after the last stop or are we talking about some other yellow flags? If so, a penalty should imo be given.

I dont know, but what vettel did was totally unnecessary. He caused a SC for petes sake.

He will be punished with a 25 seconds penalty if the marshalls find him guilty.

Since Mercedes owns FIA nowadays, he probably gets away with placing a yellow sticker on his helmet next race.

If the stewards didn't do their job at 14:06 they shouldn't be allowed to do it after the race.

Think about all the penalties that could be given after any football game.

this may have been irrelevant had Vettel not parked his car to induce a SC (as some are suggesting) as he would have won by a big margin.

1. Probably Pirelli's fault.
2. Mercedes' lawyer will think of something.

Looking at the timing app, it must be the "yellow in sector 3, double yellow in sector 2" during lap 36. That's right when Vettel came out of the pits the second time. It wasn't due to any car stopped, it looks more like marshals taking parts out of the track.

Riiight. Vettel and Rosberg were 14s clear of P3.

25>14 by a big margin in my books.

After a marshal's death in Canada, the stewards may elect to make an example. I would say it could be anything including a race win costing penalty.

Just saw Nico Rosberg sprinting down the paddock chased by TV crews after trip to stewards. He was still smiling.

That's a stupid idea. Forcing stewards to rush through a decision when they may not have all the information leads to bad decisions being made. And what would you do about incidents on the last lap?

All penalties should be done after the race really.

 Yes, give a penalty to Vettel, how he dares to retire when his car breaks down?

If the incident happened at 14.06 why didn't the stewarts investigate this during the race? It would be extremely unfair to penalize him after the race because the safety car bunched up all the cars, I think he would even finish off the points.
If he went too fast during the yellow flags he should be penalized because if the marshalls were on the track that would have put them at risk, I suppose a grid drop for next race could be fair.

There is a rule where you have to park your car in a safe position, Vettel failed to do so.

Maybe a seperate thread.

So long as it can be shown he lifted or was not as fast in the actual yellow flag zone then he will be ok- should escape with a reprimand.

Once again guilty of wrong doing and nothing, looks like someone doesn't want to upset Merc, makes you wonder why they have rules when they are so selective in applying them.

Its great that its only a reprimand, but are drivers really able to now get away with speeding under yellows? Really?
