Relieved second got secured in the end. It has been a very good season for Mercedes, even if it became pretty clear they tossed the towel in pretty firmly after the summer-break. With the handful of impressive performances before the break, and the pace shown in qualifying, I was beginning to think a Hamilton-fightback, to challenge for the title might actually be possible!
...I don't think, with all resources poured into this year, they could've done it anyway. The Red Bull was by far the best car, their team is the best and no-one could've matched the performance they've been getting out of their updates. Second in the CC is very impressive, but I'm still left with a slightly bitter-sweet taste, 'cause you soon get used to seeing the team finish on the podium, and you can't then compare them to the preceeding seasons forever. (I mean they "should've" been a closer second.)
Hamilton puncturing on Silverstone, the seasons low-point. Him pulling out that mega lap in qualifying the day before, and the Hungary-win, the seasons high-point.
Excited about next year....
