We are thinking of visit to Arizona/ Southern California in September and my wife found this race for me ( she's a nice lady!).

It is the "Glenn Howard Classic " listed for Sept. 14th.

I can't find out anything about what sort of racing it is!

As it comes under USAC could it possibly be for old, classic sprint cars? Nice if it is .

Any expert US help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at the link, it says USAC/CRA sprint cars so looks like open wheeled sprinters that evening. Go to the root of the link: http://www.perrisautospeedway.com/ to see more details and directions.

I've never been to Perris but have heard good things. It's wild to see sprint cars sideways on dirt! Ascot in Gardena used to be a lot of fun--loved to see guys turn the wheel hard right to go around a left hand turn!

There's VARA vintage (sports/formula) racing on Sept 7-8 at Buttonwillow (buttonwillowraceway.com) that is a couple of hours north of LA on the I5 interstate. There is motorcycle racing at Willow Springs Sept 14-15 (www.willowspringsraceway.com) which is also a couple hours north of LA off the 14 highway. Both these (and Perris, too) are in the desert but by September the temperature won't be too bad--Perris runs at night so it will cool off and you might need a jacket to be comfortable.

Have fun.
