Great 20 to 30 min films of the Mildren team at the Tasman series years from '64 to 69 ' so far.
With drivers Bartlett,Frank Gardner and Max Stewart .
Never scene these films before what is there history?
Have any others scene them in the period?

I saw them being filmed...

Well, more accurately, I saw old Alec filming for one of them at the Longford meeting, I feel sure that would have been 1966.

I'm also pretty sure that Scott Polkinghorne was involved in it all, or maybe Loch Townsend, one of those professional PR people. Alec only wielded the camera when the right people weren't there.

KB is quite likely to know more... now... what are some links for these?

They might be off the videos (I have part 1 on VHS) named "Racing with Alec Mildren" Part 1 had the 1965 Sandown 6hr, '66 Tasman series and club races.
Part 2 covered '67-'69 with more Tasman action, the Japanese and Macau Grands Prix, sports and touring car events/.

Max Stahl? Did he do some commentary?

Do they spell the name correctly (ie. Alec) or as you have spelled it?

I have these on a set of 4 DVD's titled "Golden Age Of Motor Sport", which I purchased some years ago.

Volume 1:
- 1966 Sandown 6 hour race.
- 1966 Tasman Series
- 1966 Warwick Farm Races

Volume 2:
- 1967 Australian Grand Prix Warwick Farm
- 1967 Easter Meeting Bathurst
- 1967 Australian Touring Car Championship Lakeside
- 1969 Tasman Series
- 1969 Japanes Grand Prix Fuji

Volume 3:

- Repco Brabham Story 1966 The Fantastic Year

Volume 4:
- 1968 Tasman Series
- 1969 Surfers Paradise 12 Hour Race
- 1964 Ampol Trial
- 1975 BP Desert Rally

I'm not sure if any of these are commercially available anymore.

Ray, you are correct with the reference to Loch Townsend as his name is mentioned on the credits of some of the films.

There is footage of Alec Mildren taking film with a 16mm camera if that makes sense.

Max Stahl briefly interviews from memory Graham Hill, Jim Clark at Warwick Farm & Chris Amon at Sandown.

Alec's role was probably to film things in the pits and preparation of the cars...

It would be good if KB came in on this discussion.
