Presumably you mean Chorley for his address? He was in nearby Gathurst by 1956

I am not sure, I think sometime in the 60s from HC via Jackie Epstein@ Will, I have never heard of an Alta being lost in Morecambe Bay. When roughly did this occur?

I am from the NW and in the early 60ts the place was buzzing. Ted Lund was from Chorley, Lancs, a well known MG tunerWhat on earth was an Alta doing in Morecambe Bay? Coming from the NW I don't recall much Motor Racing activity in the 60s in that area

I know all that, I knew (know but haven't seen him for more than 50 years) Colin Escott and most of the Lancs & Cheshire chaps and all the Oulton devotees etc but what was an Alta doing on Morecambe Bay Sands? And to lose it

Geof Taylor made more sports Altas than pure single seaters, I myself owned and race 3 of them, #55, #61 and #62 before its present butchered state. There are Altas in Australia, Canada ( BC ), Spain, Germany and France I canot see why one in Morecambe is so amazing. My father used to race his Rileys at Southport, time tryel on Pilling sands I myself have hillclimbed at Barbon and Leighton Hall.I know all that, I knew (know but haven't seen him for more than 50 years) Colin Escott and most of the Lancs & Cheshire chaps and all the Oulton devotees etc but what was an Alta doing on Morecambe Bay Sands? I presume that you like me have a few years under the belt. Un fortunately the two friends who told me are long gone and have left one or two Alta mysteries which I would like to follow #23 was one.A cousin of my wife used to live actually on Barbon Hill so I know that too, where on the sands and exactly when did the loss occur? It seems unlikely that any time trials were being run in a "quick sand" area, I'm not nit picking Malcolm, just genuinely puzzled as to the circumstances of such a happening.

So I imagine that this was reported in the local paper. Anything out of the ordinary produces headlines like "grand prix racing car lost in quicksand". In another thread a few days ago I mentioned my series 1 Elan going up in flames, that produced some wonderful conjecturing as to why it set off across the junction. (I'd left it in gear when I baled out and the starter shorted)I presume that you like me have a few years under the belt. Un fortunately the two friends who told me are long gone and have left one or two Alta mysteries which I would like to follow #23 was one.

The only Alta not properly accounted for according to my research is #19 which was originally owned by D. Briault.

The only thing I have is the picture of Bbriault in a white 1100 on trade plates, you know the photo. Question are you sure #19 was not a engine. Will,

Mike you know my tactics Agent Provocateur to try and get a subject going. But Mr DB seems to have disapeard. The Morecambe bay thing came from 3 people now long gone. My sister has sheep in the Arnside, Silverdale area she is going to ask the sands guide.Where is #23
