I have been reading this post on ferrarichat with interest and thought a few of you gents may have further input on the cars current validity as a P4.

My opinion is that it's no different to any other evolved racer that is now going back to an earlier and more famous spec but there are a lot more experts of the period here than those that are commenting on fchat that maybe can share their knowledge

Even though it existed in the form it is being rebuilt to, this particular CanAm variant, as opposed to the others was a factory development which included a bigger engine. In effect they've destroyed a unique car to make something they believe has more appeal. Still I find it strange choosing to convert to the Hawkins/Williams Spider that finished 6th at the BOAC 500 when the Berlinetta finished 2nd at Le Mans & Monza.

Unless I've misunderstood what I heard him say on the YT clip, the Talacrest chap is recreating the Stewart/Amon car, which I believe (& have checked several references) was chassis 0860, not 0858.

A very expensive hack job.....might as well paint it green and call it a 'Piper'.
